The advantage over the turbo motor is cost, to go turbo will cost me at least $3500 minimum just for the engine and thats going the cheap route. The turbo motors also need a lot more maintanence, mainly drivetrain as the extra torque made from the restrictor wears the diffs, clutches and gearboxes.
The guy has accepted my offer of $1800 for this complete engine and it was only used for 3 races. The engine is a 3s with a 5s crank and rods so its a 2.2litre, so he is having trouble selling it because it will have to be run in over 2 litre. What I will do is install a 3sgte crank(forged) and rods(forged) to bring it back to 2 litres. I want to stay as a under 2 litre car also, as there isnt many U2L cars that run in SA and they are cheaper to run. To build a 3s from scratch to this engines level would cost at least 5 grand due to the head work and forged pistons and rods. I will sell the rods and crank for about a grand and we have spare sets of 3sgte cranks and rods already at the workshop plus sell my 20valve and its drivetrain(clutch/gearbox) for $2000.
The cost of the new engine plus conversion
Costs(debits)
Engine $1800
Freight $300
Quads $800
Clutch/Gbox $800
Tailshaft $200
Dyno/Engine-G/box mounts $1000
Sundries $400
Proceeds from sale(credits)
20v complete with g/box, clutch etc $2500
5s rods and crank $1000
So it should cost about $2000 to do the conversion which will net another 80-90hp and 100 ft/lb of torque and the motor is fresher than mine

The guy who built it reckons it revs to 8500rpm and with those cams it should. It should sound horn, my 20valve sounds great at redline with the quads sucking
