it could work, I can't say for sure if it's too small or not obviously, just a guess, but this idea of being greener and greener is often bringing us worst product than expected even because they still tend to misunderstand what it's the real world, like how we drive, or better, how my mother drive, how traffic conditions are and so on.
like if the test to measure emissions was a realistic one...

Yep the 1.4.
Also bear in mind that this new Polo is lighter than the old one, so that'd help with performance and fuel consumption too.
I personally for the most part like this greener versions. They bring you more frugality and sometimes better performance in some aspects, so what's not to like? If it was m I'd extend all this enhancements to all the range, not just the green smaller engined versions.
It's like the BMW 118d we have. Of course in real life it's very difficult or almost impossible to achieve the official 4,5l/100km figure. But in the real world of 180km/h motorway journeys and start stop city traffic all this tech helps yu achieveing lower figres, even if it's not those 4,5 litres. If we didn't have it, the fuel consumption would be much, much higher.
