Did you make a mock-up of the packaging of this vehicle yet ? In 3D-CAD or real life ? Might be a good idea to do this first before you do any other design work. I did various projects in which this basic-phase was run through in cooperation with designers. Recently the KG-1 Concept car with Kessels&Granger. 9/10 times the parts don't fit in the design and some kind of alteration needs to be made. In about 2-3 weeks this phase could be done by about 5 people I guess.
Get this right and you got a very big part of the design process done! Take your time, anything you missed out might cost you 3x as much time to do later !
