Vector WX8.

Jalopnik had this up this morning. So far it's all I can find. I kinda wish it weren't true. Vector's were always such jokes. Anyway, we'll see next week at the autoshow.

OMG. They're going after all the pointless records.

I actually like it, a lot. It is not as nice as the M12 or W8 TT or WX-3 though.

That's what supercar builders do. And Gerald Weigert is an old-school supercar builder. He's been failing at this for years.

It's looks haven't improved any...

Honestly, Vector only made any sense to me because they were the only American supercar. They're not anymore, there are something like... Well, let's see. Mosler MT-900, Saleen S7, SSC Aero, Cizeta V16t... If you count the Ford GT that's five!!! And this car does not look like it's going to be good enough to handle any of them...

I'm gonna go ahead and call epic fail before this even gets off the ground.

Not all of them though, I don't see Ferrari or Lamborghini going after these records, and they're among the most respected supercar builders in the world...

Yes and no. They both constantly increase performance for the class in which they compete. At the moment, neither Lamborghini, nor Ferrari have anything that really trys to compete with the likes of this thing, the SSC, the Koenigsegg, or the Edonis. I only mention these cars in the same post becase all of them seek, or sought to expand the performance envelope beyond the level set by the F1.
Lamborghini, Pagani and Ferrari all sort of fight it out on a second tier in terms of sheer performance, but offer other nicities that make thier cars easier to live with, and in many respects just better cars.
The Veyron is on some other planet where GTs have to serve as alternitives to jet-liners...

Here are some images from Autoblog about six months back. I don't think they're actually related to the current project, but they look massively better.

Man the current car is ugly. Can anyone figure out if the lower body is supposed to be that color, or is it still in primer???

I don't think I've seen such an epic supercar manufacturer fail (even it's idea is lame) since....well, the original Vector actually.

If at first you don't succeed, skydivings not for you, Mr. Wiegert

Or if you don't die the first time, try again jumping out a little higher each time successively
