2009 Ford F-150 Spy Shots
Spotted naked in the opening. Look at the new-style grill and headlights - really ties into the new design scheme (I've forgotten it's name, what's it called?) that Ford is going for in the Taurus, Fusion, and Edge, and all the rest of it's new designs. I'm of two minds on this one, but I don't think that this will not be as well looked upon as the current generation.

What a horrid looking piece of crap. Just buy a quad cab Hilux, Triton or Patrol. Oh wait, Amerikansi don't even get the good Japanese cars and utes. Suckers.

It's a mistake to assume what serves the Austrailian market (or the Japanese market or the European market) well would serve our market well. The Japanese (Nissan, Toyota) are producing trucks similar to this because this is what US consumers want. I've seen this same "we know better" attitude towards the cars sold in the US as well. Note that Honda, Toyota and Nissan have done very well by asking the US consumers what they want then delivering it. Notice that like Ford and GM before them, the Japanese makes have learned that the US market wants different vehicles than other markets. Even the Euros makes understand this. They are giving us larger cars with softer rides.
I'm not saying this is what I want out of a car but it certainly suggests that part of the reason we in the US have the cars we have is because the US consumer WANTS what we want and it's not the same as what others want. The US domestic car makers are certainly week these days but given that the strong Japanese (Honda, Toyota) are reaching the same conclusions as the domestics you must assume that perhaps the US consumer really wants vehicles like this and not the vehicles that serve similar purposes in Austrailia. The foolish “we know better” attitude almost drove a number of euro makes from the US. It also was the same foolishness the domestics suffered from as the Japanese started entering our market. I'm not claiming the Ford is the best realization of the design but they do sell almost 1 million per year. That suggests they aren't far off the mark. Personally I would like to see the truck get lower to the ground. This truck is quite a bit taller than say a '79 Ford Crewcab F350. |

i don't care what you say, there is a hugeee difference between a Ford or GM pickup then a Toyota or Nissan pickup. they each have their pro's and cons. just remember that the pickup is american and no matter how hard the jap's try, it will always be american.

I'm pretty sure that America knows how to make a good truck. After all, the F-150 has been the #1 selling vehicle in the US for 23 years in a row. I do not know enough about these Hilux, Triton, or Patrol trucks to comment, but I'd guess that you don;t know enough about the Silverado, F-150, and 1500 to comment either - America bashing is so easy and so old that as a Canadian I sometimes tire on constantly hearing people hating on everything that comes fr on America, even if the product is good. I've seen two truck comparisons this year, and in one, the Silverado won, and in the other the Tundra won.

COOLIEMAN1220...........Ya Damn Skippy. KITDY.........Ya Damn Skippy. The only mistake made was for the last 30 years the F-150 has been the best selling truck in WORLD. I was just in Venizia....wee bit of construction goin' on round them parts.....they were in 150's. Go anywhere in the US,Saudi Arabia,Dubai,Singapore, hell probably even Canada(kidding)....do you see them driving Tundras or those funkyass little Ridgelines???????? uuuuuuhhhhh NO.What are they in..........F-150's or Silverados. For God's sake they still drive El Caminos in Australia. You know whats even dumber than an El Camino?!?!?!? Cadillac made one! No-one take any of this to heart.....I'm just picking, except the Cadillac part

The one nice thing I see out of this pic (and it has nothing to with the American car market) is that the truck seems to have a 6 1/2 foot bed with a crew cab on a "half-ton" truck. It's about time one the manufactures has decided to do this.

Yeah, because only Americans make and buy "trucks".

Actually at one time it was the best selling vehicle in the world but GM outsells Ford every year but they aren't allowed to claim the best-selling honors since it covers two brands.

I wonder if Ford will be at the top again for pickups.

Seems to me there must be something to these truck things. If enough people buy them for a long enough period of time there has to be something there. You can fool some people into buying something that doesn't deliver value to the buyer. However, it's much harder to do that year after year to several million buyers. Basically, you may not like them but certainly there is something to these trucks that you just haven't realized. |
