I agree with SPH. It looks ugly, like it was just in some sort of accident, but if it works, more power to you. If it works, it works and Ferrari can continue to dominate.

Since when was F1 about looks ?

SPHFerrari

nobody said it was. just because it isnt about looks doesnt mean its not ugly.

I have a hard time imagining a good looking F1 car, they all look exactly the same apart from some different wings, that's all. :)

hehe they all look alike...
But just imagine the F2001's nose on a F2003's body...
I think that would look great! :D

i bet they made that because they had to rise the nose. that was smart :D

I bet that wing does wonders cutting through the air and adding downforce to the car..

nah, i reckon it adds upforce

I reckon if you look at it closely, the new attachment has two lips to it, and the first one (the one nearest to the main wing) is angled down slightly. Thats blatently (!) going to direct and suck air under the car, adding more downforce. Also, they could not be for downforce at all, just aerodynamics, to alter and smooth the air flow around the bits of the car.

It doesn't matter how the front looks, the Webber, Raikonnen etc. are only going to see the back :D

Seriously tho', I don't think it looks too hot but you know it will be highly functional! Ferrari will have tested it to death before they let it anywhere near a race.

There was a time when F1 cars could be beautiful and world-conquering all at the same time.

It'll be a busy weekend in all the other team wind tunnels as they try to work out if it has an advantage :)

Does anyone have the part of the FIA F1 rule book that talks about front wings? i know they should be about 20cms of the ground (plus 10cms than last year), but on most cars i've seen they tend to lower in the midle part, and now this! TIA

It might be the endplates on them that they actually do the measuring for, although if that was the case im surprised no ones come up with a design shaped like a 747 wing with the raised lip on each end. Although, Williams are yet to release the pictures of their car. I guess the pressure's on them now, expecially after what the FW26 had

it looks very good .i love the new nose of the F2004M . but that little wing .it's just weird . it's perfectly legal . but weird . looking at .. but if it does the job .i'll live with it :D

execpt for a 50 cm area just where this wing is . wich must be above the plank . i think . .
the renault and Bar front wings also use this 50 area . but with them . it's part of the wing .not an extra ..

pretty smart of Ferrari  Always on the edge of the regulations :)

I don't think that is there too add downforce. I think it has a different purpose. Esspecially the bottom wing, it curves down on the trailing edge, surely that would reduce downforce. I think it is there to help the flow of air under the car.

Does anybody remember them images with Ferrari's F1 car in a few years? (with wings and massive fins everywhere etc)........

These pics are starting to look like them.

Fumacher

you guys know........this actually looks like something which is produced for tracks like Monaco...where they want to produce more downforce.
But they are still testing it, so we will have to wait and see if it's gonna be placed on the F2004M and the F2005, though i hope not, it just looks a bit weird. I mean the 3 layers are pretty cool, but that little wing in the middle  ... im not so sure abt that

The magic word Fumacher used was 'testing'.

The cahsnces are this is somethign 'diffrent' tomaek the other teams do some wind tunnel testing of it. If they're checking if Ferrari's wing makes a difference then they're NOT testing their own ideas. So Ferrari wins and doesn't ahve to race this wing :)

This is an F1 trick been going on for year - quote direct from F1 designer :)
