The new prototype from Alpine changed its designation from the M-series to the A-Series of the road going berlinettes, in an effort to link both commercially.
It build on the lessons learnt with the M65 (http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/forum/showthread.php?p=997364) and it had a completely new front suspension. Alpines had always relied on aerdynamics and speed for their performance, but the ever increasing performance of the engines (this had a 1470cc Gordini twin car with 160bhp) demmanded attention to the handling as well.
Winner of the index of Performance and index of Thermal Efficiency in the 1968 24h of Le Mans.
