Dont bother modding your first car until your on a full license.....then you'll know you can drive properly

To fill the gaps left by removed badges you'll have to get some putty and bog em up, sand and smooth em really good and carefully paint it. Usually one should paint at least the whole panel that they were on.

And just so you know, you cant use 60-200 grit garnet paper. if youre doing it yourself, get some nice wet and dry sandpaper, you can get it up to 2000 grit (at least thats what my local shop sells it up to), at which point your not really sanding so much as polishing.....

I had a sick slick Gemini don't go there parts are hard to find and expensive.

But my mums friend sisters son just bought a VN 90 on road for $350 up in camperdown:eek: They can't give them away up there they say:)

prolly the same for old school "X" series falcons as well now. I struggled so hard to find parts for my datsun and when i did they were often not good quality or rusted or somthing bad.

$3500 will get you a VP commi or a modded VN here in Canberra. An old school LT2000 Celica isnt a bad place to start either. a few of my mates had them but again, parts are hard to find.

Its really about what you want and are looking for in a car.

It probably helps knowing where to look, driving back from Moss Vale a couple of years ago, my mums XA started overheading and blew a hole in the radiator. We managed to find one out of an XC fairly quickly and got it fixed up.

it helps to have interchangeable parts thats for sure.

the L16 in the datto was used in the 1600, Stanza and a few others spanning 15 odd years and shares some components with the L18 and L20. Its more panels and bumpers and interior bits that are hard to find.

Yeah, all the little cosmetic bits that might even be changed in a series 2 upgrade etc....Most of the manufacturers, especially Holden and Ford, keep the running gear much the same for a few generations of the car. The basics of the Falcons I6 date back to the original XK, but that aside, both manufacturers keep their chassis for around 8 years

Still the worst thing with that car was rear grip:p And missing in 3-4th gears at full tilt. Guess i will never know what the problem was now:(

Go the LT celica, they used the same motor forever so there's plenty around you can do it, they are only a 1.6 or 2 if you get a modded one so they'll be easy on the fuel and are pretty light and have got a bit of go and you won't kill yourself plus they are pretty damn cool
