It becomes a problem when you're stuck behind them in traffic and you're sick and tired of hearing their fartcan whizzing. It's just as bad when they talk sht about other people and their cars, saying what they own is fully sic.

When we refer to riced cars, we mean their appearance, right?
And in particular big spoilers, front airdams, big rims with small profile tyres etc.
Generally, when you refer to the aesthetics of an object, you can't say that there is a rule saying "this looks good" or "this looks bad". It's just a matter of personal taste.

HOWEVER, what most anti-ricers want to express is that riced cars aren't aesthetically homogenous. For example a Civic was designed to look in a certain way, not having 17 inch rims and big wings. It's like putting make-up on my grandmother. My grandfather would like it, but it doesn't mean she should do it.

So, if someone like riced cars it's totally acceptable, but they like something that is an aesthetic paradox.

My problem with them is that they are pretending to be what they're not...modified cars. When I was in high school, I had friends that had cars that looked "normal" but could blow your doors off down the 1/4 mile. The cars that had custom paint jobs, wheels and so for had high performance mods as well. If any car sound "powerfull" or "fast" is becuase it was...not a coffe can muffler. :)

I just laugh at them. They always stare at you, because you're making them look at their piece of shit. Then when you laugh at them they rev up, or get out and shout.

Simple message when you laugh: Your efforts are puny because your car sucks. I can give you a thousand examples of rice in my hometown that go like a snail with tubercolosis, and I can also give you an M3 CSL that goes like shit off a shovel, but looks fairly (fairly!) ordinary.

"Ricers" want to make their car look "sportier-racier".
There are 2 ways to achieve a sporty-racy look

1. Through Proportions: A very low and wide car will look much sportier than a stock civic. Of course you can't change the proportions of your car. Because it's too expensive to get a car with such proportions (Elise or sth) ricers turn to the 2nd solution

2. Addition of wings, rims and all the "rice" components. This method, if not executed correctly can lead to results that will split opinions :D


I tend to believe though, that most kids ignore the above, and want only to rice. They see a 75406789034 bhp Supra on the magazine cover and think they can have one as well. Why rice your civic? give $5000 more and get a used elise or a similar car that will do the part through proportional beauty.


Of course as I said in a previous post, it's a free world. anyone can do WTF he likes. But that doesn't mean that ricers won't get laughed at by the vast majority of the society :D

The whole "Rice" thing has gotten way out of hand. It's to the point where you can't modify the exterior of your car unless you have 400hp+. It's stupid. There is nothing wrong with changing the way a car looks, even if it's still slow. It doesn't automatically mean you go out looking for "kills" on the highway and sit in parking lots with your lights on "pimpin' it" to the latest 50 Cent album. Believe it or not, but a lot of people mod their cars because they're enthusiasts and enjoy it, but can't afford to have a fast car. Even if "rice" has the performance to back it up, if they took out all that stereo crap, but on a better exhaust and took down the oversized wing and the body kit it would have more performance. the "rice" hinders the performance, but normally the people putting the "rice" on think its helping in some sort of way.

The problem with rice is when its done in bad taste, and doesn't show anything which is functional and/or performance oriented. While beauty is entirely subjective, most of us don't like to see cheap cars with cheap bodykits and cheap paint jobs that show no clue of attention to the cars proportions, etc.

In conclusion, you can do whatever you want to your car, as long as you don't expect me to like it-- and that's the problem-- most of them do.
