Holden confirms GM luxury brand Cadillac is on target for a 2007 Australian launch

GENERAL MOTORS’ Cadillac luxury brand remains on target to be introduced Down Under in 2007, according to Holden boss Denny Mooney.

"Is Cadillac still on the agenda? Yes, it is. (It’s) probably still a year to two away, but we’re working on a strategy," he said in a address to media earlier this month.

Mr Mooney confirmed Holden was in a holding pattern as it awaited a full complement of right-hand drive Cadillacs to become available.

"We have said all along (that Holden has) got to have enough of a portfolio of right-hand drive products available for us to satisfy our distribution system, because our dealers have to make money.

"We can’t ask dealers to limp along with one product. There are plans to get a full portfolio of right-hand drive Cadillacs," Mr Mooney said.

As previously reported, that portfolio already includes the front-drive Saab 9-3-based BLS medium sedan and the Commodore-sized CTS large sedan, while the full-size STS sedan and SRX four-wheel drive are due to enter right-hand drive production in 2006.

I look forward to seeing caddys on aussie roads...

It will definately be a culture shock for most people who've heard of Cadillac. The CTS definately will be different, being a smaller car but the STS might get off better.

I hate to say it, but I really like the look of the latest caddies, hopefully they will drive as good as they look. But seeing they're American they probably wont.

current caddys look sexy and all...but does anyone know how they drive???

I think at first they drove like a pig, But now i think they handle very well but knowing the Yanks it will be softer and hit bumps and react slower, So hope they give it some stiffness for our roads.
Holden were killing a white one a few years back and a pic of it flying around a corner it looked nice on the road and firm with not much body roll.

They're supposed to be a pretty decent car, from what I've read. Not sure about some of th styling, though, but I'll reserve judgement until I see it in person.

Id say the styling is caddy's best quality:D

bringing the BLS is definately a mistake and the CTS is a bitty iffy as they have to fit into the market somewhere. The STS should go alright and the 4x4 should as well, just as long as they aren't horrible

Someone at GM didn't do there home-work and see how Australia reject more U.S cars maybe more then any other country. We have a big list of cheap built cheap quality over priced rejects:p.

And Toyota would kill the competition if they built a RWD car with V8, Or RWD the Camry they would eat into Falcon and Commodore if they did. But they as you said they are committed to there way nerds:p

Mmmmm, all those sharp edges and stuff, the sports models look very purposeful, but the lower models look a bit over-the-top. But, beauty is in the eye of the beholder... :)

Well, atleast in Australia (im not sure about japan;) ) the general population might not get that excited about a Camry V8...lol nerds with steroids cant match SS or XR8...

If Toyota announced a RWD Family car the size of Falcon and Commodore tomorrow i wonder how much interest they would get from that?.
My Sister hates her FWD she likes the occasional wheelie:p

Being a typically traction-deprived FWD even my Mum's undernourished 1964 Morris 1100 was capable of decent chirpys into 2nd when I drove it :D

I'd doubt that Toyota's Altona factory is set up for RWD production

Her old Camira could but this Gen2 has 17" rims and it's very grippy, Not long ago i was egging her on to give that little lotus tuned engine it's full 7200rpm limit a go:D, She did and the thing really jumps in power above 4500rpm fast,
Then she took the next bend turn in the road @ 80kp/h:eek: not a wheel out of place no under steer at all. I took that same bend in Da VeePee @ 65kp/h and almost went sideways:p But it felt good:p
