Ferrari's new F1 car for the 2009 season. The name "F60" refers to the fact that this will be Ferrari's 60th year of Formula 1 competition.

The 2009 cars certainly looks a lot neater than those of their predecessors with all those winglets gone. The rear wing looks wierd though.

Dang.. I was hoping for a new halo car. Guess it's a bit late for an F60 now though... F65 coming maybe? :D

I think it looks pretty old school (in a good way) with the reduced aero.

The proportion looks all funny with the super wide front wing and tall and narrow rear....I wonder how many front wing touching the rear wheel incident will happen this year.....

Thankfully it's not so ugly as I thought it would be. That black skirt visible from the above made me remember early 90's Ferrari's.
I wonder how many front wing touching the rear wheel incident will happen this year.....
Been thinking about this too. We'll see.

I agree, takes me back to when F1 cars looked like this...

That tiny rear wing looks ugly. I actally liked the 'busy' look with all the winglets and aero on it. But tht may just be because I was wondering what the airflow would look like with all of that, etc.

Suka! Your DP is one of my favourite looking F1 cars of all time. Got any high res?
I also like the new design - except the nose is very wide, and the massive front wing looks too low and blocky. Other than that, it's ok. The best thing is the exhaust pip design. Like that a lot.

It does remind me of the early 90s F1 cars. That's cool though. I hope all the reduced aero has the desired affect on the racing.

So..does anyone have more hi-res pictures? I have already seen on-track shots and more from the presentation. Could someone share please?

I thought cars would look much uglier... not sure about other cars, but this one certainly looks sexy, except the rear wing! They still managed to get some winglets, only that now they are called... rearviewmirrors!!! :):):)

Just wondering, did anyone else think Enzo when they first saw F60 in the thread title?

And thank you for more pictures, Revo!

No sorry, I don't keep many car photos on my PC. The image of my avatar was only small too, I just wanted something before his final race.
The car is a MP4-19 though, so maybe if you search that you might find something.

I love the car itself. Wonderful shape! And yeah, it really reminds of the ´90s cars. But the wings are terrible, front too wide, rear too narrow...
When will F1Cars look like this again...

The rear wing in proportion to the front is laughably small, but I like the design of the new cars a lot. FIA vote for change 2009, headed by Barack Obama.

I like it 'cept for the rear wing (of course).
The low front wing is very cool.

It looks different that previous years and i like it. Will it work though is the main question.

Ferrari team boss Stefano Domenicali has revealed that the Scuderia have yet to decide whether they will use KERS at the opening stint of the 2009 season.
This year's Championship will see the introduction of the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) into Formula One. However, not all the teams are set to use the new device at the start of the campaign.
Ferrari is just one team that may not with Domenicali revealing that the Italian outfit are behind in developing their KERS device. As a result the Scuderia may start the new season without it.
"When we realise that the performance guaranteed by KERS is up to expectations, then it is our task to use it," Domenicali said during the launch of Ferrari's new F60. "This is our goal if we want to win the World Championship.
"Today's presentation is important for us, because this is the first set of tests (for KERS) on a race track. I imagine that we will have problems, the typical problems linked to a race track, and we will have to solve them in a different way.
"Tests are reduced, we are down to 15,000km and there are no tests during the season, so we have to be as efficient as possible. We will have to use the testing benches a lot more than in the past. I expect to see problems and issues.
"The first objective to meet is to have a car that is highly reliable. Reliability played a very heavy burden on us last season, so the first objective is to understand the potential of KERS and then solve all the reliability problems."
Apparently Felipe thinks the new car is "cute." :)

I'm wondering why the FIA hasn't allowed the cars to be wider than the current 1,8 meters. F1 cars were usually 2 meters wide in the past (I think), which will obviously increase mechanical grip a great deal as well.
The wings can be kept as is which will probably make the front wings appear more proportional to the car, but the rear wing in it's current form is cursed to always look out of place.
The car itself looks great I think, very slick.

Concerning that KERS situation... One rather well known website about endurance racing wrote about a deal between Peugeot and Ferrari - this year's 908's will use Scuderia's KERS system, and it would be something like test sessions for SF during the season, which, of course is prohibited within F1 championship. AFAIK their KERS is just not yet completely ready to run...

Do you have a link to those spy shots?
As already posted by others, I thought this year's cars were going to b worst, not that the look is their main aspect.
It reminds me of the F1 Ferrari driven by Prost, the F91 (right?)

What's the logic behind Ferrari's F1 car naming in past years? I have a full liost below from Wiki form those interested.
125 | 275 | 340 | 375 | 500 | 553 | 625 | 555 | D50 | 801 | 412 | 246 | 256 | 156 | 158 | 1512 | 312 | 312B | 312T | 126C | 156/85 | F1/86 | F1/87 | 640 | 641 | 642 | 643 | F92A | F93A | 412T | F310 | F300 | F399 | F1-2000 | F2001 | F2002 | F2003-GA | F2004 | F2005 | 248 F1 | F2007 | F2008 | F60
So we have various anomalies - even in recent years when things were logical. F1-2001 morphed into F2001, but why the GA on the F2003? Was there not also an F2004 M or something? of course the 248 F1 after the change form 10 to 8 cylinders, then the F60. And then from the 640 to F399 what is going on? I am pretty sure some of the earlier ones are the unitary displacement, the D50 is the Lancia, you have the years in the 156/85,| F1/86, F1/87, and the 312 denotes a 3L V12. As for the rest does anyone have any answers?

I've lost the link, but I've got the shots themselves. The car was called FX60 on that site. Here's a link to a special thread:

but why the GA on the F2003?
In favor of Gianni Agnelli, who has died then.

GA stands for Gianni Agnelli, which died that year or in the winter before the season started.
otherwise, I think there isn't s defined scheme, sometimes they refer to the year, sometimes to the unitary displacement or to the displacement and number of cylinders. marketing in the end.

Really? Do they still continue this naming? Is 660 kind of an intern name?
