I was looking through some old magazines (Enquirer, Globe, etc) and came across this article. Kind of out of date! Not to mention somewhat inaccurate.

From the National Enquirer, Sept. 10, 1996...

It's always funny to see people write off tech before it's had a chance to prove its worth. See also: iphone, Wii, electric cars...

I still write off electric cars because they're damn boring, overpriced, don't sound right, and are over hyped.

And if you bring up the Tesla or anything Elon Musk could make, I'm gonna smack you- the Tesla had the engine ripped out for no reason, and Elon Musk is all vaporware.

Yeah, I guess a lot can happen in 15 years. Or maybe not?

That's very interesting. How wrong the man was. I'm sure he feels like an idiot now. I'm quite curious in regards to the bar fight article below lol.

It's funny that this article can now be snickered at by millions of people, who all saw it on the internet.

The problem with electric cars is range and charging time.

Once those two issues have been solved they will become mainstream.

Unfortunately.

^^ New Leaf is 30 mins from empty to full at a "charging station".
( Nobody seems to know whether 15 mins gives you half distance - ie is charging on the "special" linear )
Overnight or an office shift is enough on "normal" power connection.
SO reasonably practical for townies, short commutes already.
So 1 out of 2 already is not bad :)

It's actually like this:
15 minutes = don't know
30 minutes = 80 km
8 hours = full range (depending on conditions, from 75,5 to 222 km, normal condition is 168,5 km, tested figures)

GF is writing her thesis on electric and hybrid cars.

I think the 30 min example you're citing is mixing ranges for 500v one ?
I realised they don't go to ful charge on the fast one - reasonable as batteries don't like the last part being pushed hard. So 30 mins on level 3 is 80% per cent charge.
Can you check ??
