There's a problem with Firefox too, the main page (+ vehicle pages since the last couple of hours) are being stated as an attack site, Matra and Wouter have been made aware some time earlier today so hopefully it won't be like this for very long.
I was beginning to think i was the only one seeing it, can't say i recall it happening before though. That said i've only been a regular visitor for half the time period you have yourself.
P.S. I can't even get to the forum unless i switch from .com to .net :confused:

Both firefox and Chrome use the stopbadware site as their reference.
So a complaint made or a trawl that finds something gets reported there.
Awaiting Wouter doing a check on the codebase and then can engage them to clear the warning flag. It's a standard process to go through with them. A few false positives turn up with this process :(
You can click on the 'proceed anway' link if you trust the site or had it explained.

Wouter's kicked up the security level on the site.
So should all be good ....... now WAS there a risk ? --- 99.999999999% certain no imho .... BUT, it makes chrome/firefox devotees feel good about their choice :)

It didn't make me feel much either way, I knew it was super likely to be another false positive. I switched to Firefox because IE6 had no tabs, and stayed there because intertia is a powerful force.

Also Firefox had more addons, and probably still have.
Inertia to look for similar apps for Chrome or IE7 (or 8?) is even more powerful.

I for one was never worried about a risk to my pc's security rather that of the less I.T. savvy folks out there. My only concern was to keep the site functioning for everyone that visits regardless of their browser choice.

More the near-hysteria the market has created around this arena and the relative merits of browser protection against malware. Read recent test by NSS Labs had IE9 caught 99 percent of all threats, with Firefox catching 19 percent and Chrome managing 3 percent. Currently digging deeper to make recommendations to clients :) ( coz I dont beleive THAT large a disparity and suspect they didn't load all the add-ins on ff and c :)

That's ok Peter, no offence taken :) i was just affirming your point about there being very little to no risk and i appreciate yourself and Wouter expediting getting everything back to normal for all of us to continue enjoying the site to it's fullest as generally is the case. :cool:

Yea.. that was an MS sponsered test. IE9 looks like a pretty good browser though, which is nice. Our client still has IE6 on their PCs, but given the state of some of their other tech, that's hardly surprising...

^^^ would have pulled them on to IE8, lighter and faster :)
We're holding clients back from IE9 till our tests are done and reviewed.

We're still on XP too, so no IE9 for us here. At home I'm waiting for it to pop up on Windows Update. My work laptop* has IE8, so that's something.
*Work provides the laptop, the client we work for provided the desktop. Short story I can't be bothered explaining. :p

It's a competent browser, from what I've read. I wouldn't switch to it, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend anyone not use it.
