I came up with an idea for a survey on everyone's own country. This should be fairly simple. Just follow suit with how I did mine... what you choose can be modern or within recent history (lets say, since the 50s or so).

some news for Hell Unleashed:
my uncle joined Sri Lankan airlines in Pak. he's been to SL twice & he loved it. he's been interviewed by a Paki TV channel in Sri Lanka about his visit. ive seen all of his photographs & its a very beautiful place.
i was in his office on saturday & met this fellow from SL. he loved Pakistan & wanted to settle here, not that he didnt like Sri Lanka, he's used to natural beauty & beautiful beaches so he liked the hustle of the big Karachi city. when its just the opposite with me.

Australia.
Best Part
Clean, warm, sunny most of the time. Lovely people, very multicultural, big enough to matter, small enough to care. Great music scene (locally anyway.)

INTERNATIONALLY
Best Part
percieved freedom and welcoming arms. great export potential, an aussie in every british pub behind the counter (So i've heard).....
Worst Part
Target for anyone hating the U.S. Puppet PM, Lack of true freedom from mother Britain.

Cynicism is not the same as sarcasm.
A Cynic is someone with little faith in human sincerity and goodness:
E.g. I am a cynic. When I see John Prescott (the fat and unloved Deputy Prime Minister) rescuing a man from drowning (http://news.scotsman.com/uk.cfm?id=949212004), I don't think he's doing it because he is some sort of hero, I think he's doing it for votes and publicity. (Not really, but you get the point)
The gibbering, foulmouthed-fool, yesterday:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/today/reports/archive/features/images/john_prescott220x160.jpg
Sarcasm is a bitter or wounding remark, or an ironically worded taunt:
E.g. When Marcus Gronholm is on another voyage into some German undergrowth, backwards, and the comment "Great driving!" can be heard coming from my direction.
Edited for added thread-relevance:
Being able to call any of our politicians a fat, violent, Jabba the Hut is one of the positive aspects of living in the United Kingdom.
Having a fat, violent, Jabba the Hut as Deputy Prime Minister is a negative aspect of living in the UK.
Someone threw an egg at him in protest of something, so being "2nd in command" to The Great Blair, he did the sensible thing and punched the egg-dispensing yokel in the face.

Thanks coventry! A funny, informative post as usual.
Cynicism in the context of your post was that you suspected that Pakistans sudden windfall economically had something to do with its crackdownon terrorism. Coventry's definition was a little harsh (although accurate). Sorry if Im being overly obvious.

AUSTRALIA!!! (AKA little USA)
Domestically:
Best part: Summer! The beach, mates, Holdens, foolish local governments who employ people like me, Having everything everyone else has except more of it! Long roads and lots of them, gorgeous girls, opportunity to do anything, the best damn elite forces in the world! (SAS) Being able to grey import. barbeques, steak and Sosos(sausages) having choice, multiculturalism, freedom (of sorts) relatively cheap petrol (compared to many places) and of course AFL! (go the ROOS!)
Worst part: Whiny greenies crying about ILLEGAL immigrants being locked up like the should be (they are ILLEGAL!!!) A weak PM (although elections are soon, I'm voting for Latham.) The destinct absence of rain or water in general is beginning to annoy me as well as not being able to go out on a friday night and not come across "fully sick mate" wankers
Internationally:
Best part: Rugby(both codes, Carn the Brumbies!) Cricket, and just sports in general, on a per capita basis Australia crapped on everyone in the Olympics. Having Aussies world reknown as awesome fun people!
Worst part: annoyingly weak government, might as well be another US state with the Free Trade Agreement coming in, lack of ability to learn from mistakes.
