Don't get me wrong , I have no problem with BMW , my issue is with tuners that don't know when enough is enough, when tweaking and customizing start to detract from the original car.

Get over it man! Your entitled to like what you want. Dont expect us all to wank over what ever you trot out though. If others dont like it , they dont like it. I have no personal gripe with BMW. I dont like a couple of their latest designs but I would have any M3 or M5 you want to send my way. They are not the greatest cars on earth though. That may be hard for you to swallow.

If there was a BMW that i was to like it would be the M3, apart from that bonnet scoop thing, it looks pretty good. But this car can't compete with lambo and ferrari in looks, and just in performance, i think, send some performance stats.

you have the right to say that Diablo vs M3 t sound s abit different but it s an BMW {M3 turbo} and the only reason i am posting this is because it s not only one movie there are more than one that is between BMW M3 turbo and Diablo and in all the M3 turbo wins if i could just post them i would but this site wont accept it :p

Good post. Keeps our dissapointment with the latest BMW designs in perspective. Although to be fair this is an old design and in its day was probably quite relevant. Why are we looking at it now though?

I think because this was the design that put BMW on the map. Hadn't it been for this car (starting as a humble 1500) we would not even have had this thread. Or could the nex car added take that position? (Rauno Aaltonen's 2002)

The car is the 300 SLR coupe, which was constructed by Karl Wilfert in Sindelfingen on the basis of the SLR Roadster of Mille Miglia fame. The assigment to construct the Coupes was given by Rudolf Uhlenhaut, then the chief of the experiments department at Mercedes (1955). He used the cars for travelling to and from GP and other races. Sterling Moss once said that the cars were built for the "private pleasure" of Uhlenhaut. Both cars are known as the Uhlenhaut-Coupes.

I think only cars like the Landrover Defender and all those proper off-roaders and vans and trucks should be powered by diesel engines. You can't have a Diesel powered Ferrari can you.

Don't be too sure about that, the Maserati Quattroporte is already on the way with the Multijet engine, and I'll bet ithis will be the best selling version in Europe. At the end of the day when fossil fuels will have run out, you may be able to run your Ferrari on biological diesel, which is now in Holland being applied in a MacDonalds truck, running on the same stuff in which they bake their French fries.

You can get a hydrogen powered A-class which runs on water, but at 300 grand, it isn't exactly cheap.

imo the m1 is the sexiest bimmer because its the only one that doesnt either look like a family car, or a pompous little roadster.
the m coupe comes in third after the 507 roadster.

Well i have just read the hole of this thread (which took ages!) and would just like to say a few things.
1. My grandad used to race with and was friends with Stirling Moss.
2. Before going to BMW Chris Bangle worked at Fiat, he designed the Multipla.
