I had some crackers in Yr 12 English. Try winning an argument about a book which everyone had read EXCEPT me (of course they didn't know that...). I once had to do an essay in-class because I was away the day we were supposed to do it, so I wrote the essay in 20 minutes, walked back into class and within 30 seconds I was telling someone why they were wrong....

thats like most of my assignments, just a night before job and i still pass alright, so im happy. im probably one of a few people in my class that can actually read properly and fluently believe it or not, theres SOOOOO many dropkicks....we get stuck reading shit in class out loud, and like every second person, if theyre not laughing, theyre trying to figure out the words. when it gets to me, 2 paragraphs in 10 seconds...

Most times i have a great idea and they dont hear me so i crack it and wont say it again, Like my mate's VR Berlina i told him 2 years ago to grab some VS Berllina or VR Calais rims there the same, I said they will look nice on your car mate. last weekend he buys them:eek: He says like my new rims, I seen them on a Berlina dn thought wouldnt they look good on my car? I pretty much answered every question in English, but occasionally the teacher would say
"Ok lets have an answer to this but this time you can't say it Kody......."
"....."
*sigh* "Ok what is it Kody?"
My class was full of retards.
fpv_gtho
11-29-2004, 02:08 AM
you have to wonder how they manage to make some classes full of smartarses with the odd retard, and classes the other way around.....you'd think if they were going to make it uneven, they'd stick everyone with people the same as them.
Luciferous
11-29-2004, 02:27 AM
You'd think so wouldn't you? I suppose our class was pretty even, I just did TEE English because I actually enjoyed it, I wasn't aiming to go to Uni or anything so maybe thats why I got put in it. Most of the people in the class were pretty bad at English but needed it to get into Uni.
fpv_gtho
11-29-2004, 02:31 AM
Well they say that about 75% of the Uni courses these days require at least general maths, so i guess im glad im down as doing 3 unit maths...Ontop of that iive got advanced english down but my english teacher's been saying that even the general class is too hard, so im glad i never went for 3 unit in that as well
Luciferous
11-29-2004, 02:59 AM
English is a really tricky subject. Over here theres the basic TEE English (the one to get into Uni) where its a lot of essays and stuff, but if you stick to what the teacher says you should be cool. Then theres English LIT (Advanced English) where there's less work but more understanding and interpretation, so as long as you can talk a lot of bullshit its pretty cruisy. If not you get a headache after a while.
fpv_gtho
11-29-2004, 03:05 AM
my homeroom teacher whos the english coordinator's been going around telling people who should the english fundamentals course. since were stuck doing at least 1 unit of english, heaps of people are choosing their other 1 unit course as photography or sport and such and the teacher thinks its a waste choosing something thats not going to help them. thats where the extra unit for my maths went

Once I got to year 11 I quit Maths and never looked back. That subject was the biggest waste of time for me. Most people asked me at the time why I didn't do Maths, so I told them because you don't have to. The usual response was "Dammit I didn't know that!"

its i guess a hugely extended version of pythagoras

fractions, decimals and percentages are probably one of the more useful things you can be taught, you just gotta realise where you can use them
Luciferous
11-30-2004, 03:37 AM
A lot of people say that they're never gonna usse most of maths in everyday life so why should they learn it? If it was a perfect world I'd have it so that you learn the basics of maths then you don't ever need to do it again unless you plan on a career where you do need it everyday, such as being an architect or something.
fpv_gtho
11-30-2004, 03:43 AM
well for the most parts i guess theres alot that you'll never use again, but on the other hand theres alot of concepts that your bound to use a basic version off....like fractions, decimals and percentages, you'd use them heaps like turning decimals into fractions vice versa, but how many times would you be converting something like 5/27ths into a percentage or decimal...

i hardly ever need to use calculators unless its some massive thing or heaps of decimals etc. like with the science school certificate, apparently you were allowed to bring in a calculator but the examinors we had on the day weren't allowing anyone. we were told afterwards we were allowed the calculators, so al the Yr10's are getting more science marks, but i didnt even notice a calculator was needed :p

Worse I remember landmarks AFTER turnings.
So like "big red building". So I pass a junction and unless I look UP the road I don't see the "landmark" :( It's the WORST way of trying to remember a route and wish I didnt' but that's the way I do it "naturally" ( just dont tell Ian ( my driver in the MGB rally car ) :) )

Oh Dear :( ....i would be terribleif the removed one of your landmarks on the courses...like when they removed a gum tree at bathurst once....that was half of the drivers break marker  no major incidents but quite a few savage breaking manuvers on the first 2 laps...
But yeah its a shocking way of doing things...also i have the bad habit of finding a route somewhere and going that way everytime....even if theres a quickerway of doing it...i know this way im sticking too it...

Early in my track time, I made the mistake of using one of the distance boards as my reference point for braking. Came round and someone had spuin and taken it out.
I felt a little stupid in the gravel trap :(
Taught me a lesson.
One which EVERYBODY in the pitlane afterwards was saying "oh yeah you got to pick something PERMANENT as your brake refernce, everybody knows that"

you'd go alright as a pilot then i think, in my very brief flying practise in a Cessna 152 i was forever being told to look out for landmarks like Warragamba Dam, Prospect Resorvoir and the twin pipes stretching about 20km between the 2, camden aerodrome, holsworthy airstrip etc. they were all things used as reference points so i knew my flying boundaries
