that didn't stop toyota and mitsubshi from making 300+ hp supra's and 3000gt's.

No such thing.

BMW has had engines taht don't produce massive power but its where they put their power that makes them so nice. the power comes ubiquitously from throughout the powerband even though #'s are lower then others

And the gearing makes up for it in hondas. The new civic Si has a 4.765 final drive. 0_o
Torque steer isn't due to engine power, true, but more power definitely magnifies it, more for FWD than RWD.

Anyway, it's the power to weight ratio as well that you have to consider. The Civic Type R isn't exactly what you'll call slow, and the S2000 still gets you from 0-60 in 6.2s

yeah, I agree mate and as the actress said to the bishop "...its not how big it is but what ya do with it"

try telling me a Mazda MX5 ain't a helluva lot of fun even though its power is miniscule and being RWD [as is the HONDA 2000] adds to its pleasure to drive

the HONDA 2000 with the extra power [2004 and later models also have a wider power band and more torque] gives it more get up and go. Couple that with outstanding and balanced handling and you have a car that is an absolute joy to drive

statistics and specs have their place as long as they underpin what happens when ya drive the thing

otherwise what's the point of it all?

My Honda Civic is over a quarter of a century old (it's 26 years old) and it has about 60hp. However, it is still fun to drive and it has more than enough power for normal road driving.

BMW's power figures are very good. BMW has engines that are actually SUITABLE for luxury cars...with their V12's and V10's and V8's and twin-turbo 6's.

That economy JUNK that Honda throws in Acura just DOESN'T CUT IT. Don't compare BMW to Honda...BMW's are not underpowered.

Then probably they are underpowered by American standards. A Civic Type-R which does 0-100km/h in 6"6 seconds, has a top speed of 235km/h and costs 26.500€ is perfectly fine and quite fast.

i never called them underpowered. i said their power numbers aren't as high as competitors but their engines feel faster and nicer then the competitors. what i was saying was that Honda doesn't have that to them.
