BMW out Evo's the EVO

2008 BMW 135i vs. 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MR - Comparison - Motor Trend

Im not a BMW fan at all. but i think they hit a home run with the 135. this car is cheaper than an evo, its faster than an evo, and its a helluvalot nicer looking both inside and out than the evo.

and its a BMw so when someone asks you get to say, "i drive a bmw" instead of having to admit, "I drive a mitsubishi"

I think that BMW is ugly... though it does appear to be quite fast. Regardless, I'd have the Mitsubishi. fast still, AWD, and doesn't look half bad.

Hm this is tough to me because I am not partial to either car and I don't like the comparisons of the 135i to the 2002 (My all-time fav BMW) and I would take an STI over an Evo. However, I think after this I would maybe look at the 135i, if I were buying either car, but I am not.

I'd rather have the BMW. the 1 series coupe looks better in real life.

It'd be better if that engine was available in the hatchback. This coupe is just too ugly.

The EVO X is just not as fast as the old one, the extra 100kilo kills it...

Stop looking at me! Look at me! Stop looking at me!
"On the skidpad, the Evo tilts the world back on axis-easily besting the 135i"

"Thinner and harder, the Evo's tiller gives the impression that you're hardwired into the car; the action is light, accurate, and unnervingly fast at first. Once underway, the precision of the Evolution makes it easy to relax and focus on this technical track. It has a more planted feel, with less body roll, which means 115 mph entries into the double S-turns can be taken with a lot less pucker."

""The Evo has the best version of this kind of transmission to date. The 135i's auto isn't bad, probably the best currently in a BMW, but the Evo's TC-SST is just amazing.""

"Too bad that, when it came time for hot laps, all the BMW delivered just wasn't enough; in one lap around the 2.74-mile Reno-Fernley Raceway, the Evo put a blistering 3.42 seconds on the 135i."

So the Evo blows it away on track but the 1 series wins. MMhmm. Standard motor trend.

Reminds me of their Z06 vs M3 vs Boxster test from like 2002 or something...

...because it's easier to live with. C'mon, not all of us live next to a race track and the Evolution's not exactly a C-class.

I would take a manual 335 any day over an EVO, but the 135 looks like a damn shoe. BTW according to the article the 135 tested was $8,000 more expensive than the EVO.

im a BMW fan, but im pretty impressed at the evo too, but at the same time, i was let down that a RWD, 300hp, traditional trani, luxury coupe did so well against an AWD, auto-clutch manual, race focused EVO. so id probably take the BMW, but the EVO sure does look interesting

Nope it's not. But for me it's bearable. The coupe is just too much.

That's beacause it has stupid options like an automatic gearbox. As standard the BMW is almost $3,000 cheaper than the Mitsubishi.
