The good and the bad

what i reckon are some of the good and bad car comercials on the TV today:

Good:

falcon RTV ute add (mainly cause of that guys cheeky laugh)
new escape add (the guy in the escape looking at the biker as if hes on a bike himself)
S60R add (the footage of the car speeding around the speedbowl with the writing flashing past)

Bad:
VY one tonner add (i think they overdone it with the bit where the camera angle swaps between both headlights and the guys looking back at the dirt trail left behind)
Nissan Pulsar add (i think its high-lighting too much self pride within nissan australia)
Renault Megane 2 (i hate the song)

Is that the "shakin your ass" one ?
A classic.
Turned many negative comments about the new Megane rear to positive - well from the guys anyway.
Clever advertising.

Poor advertising cause I cant remember the car, but I like the one with the two workers discussing one of their new utes. The one where the noises from the tools mask the swearing.

that would be the add for the triton after they stuck the pajero's diesel engine, after the pajero got the 3.2L unit crisis.

we'll the add we get has that song "i like big buts" playing so it could be slightly different, but i simply just have to roll my eyes at it

Me and tom liked that add we used to open and slam the doors while impersinating the add and with noises from the mechanics shed really helped too...but thats a location thing i guess.
That adventra add is pretty lame "adventra island"

well just remember that marketing is usually made to be understood by the simple minded. as far as i can see the adventra add's will more than likely reel in a fair few sales. my electronics teacher at school is thinking of getting one. one of his friends works for overlander magazine and they tested one taking it along the backroads between sydney and melbourne. he was trying to make a big deal about the magazine complaining about one of the rims cracking, and he's saying stuff like "cummon, its back roads, you know what theyre like, you'd expect to crack a rim". well i'd answer back to that, that you could also take your bog standard falcon or commodore down the backroads between melbourne and sydney so it was hardly a test of the cross-trac AWD system or anything.

alot of the testers apparently said that they'd take the adventra over say, a short wheelbase landcruiser as they reckon it does everything they do and more. well untill i see adventra's going across the Rubicon track in america and climbing rocky 45 degree slopes, im not bought

bad car ads?!? how about the holden crewman?!?! FALSE ADVERTISING!! rwd! how would bolting it down and flooring it create a new cab!?!?!
even tying it down at the far rear end wouldnt do it!, sure it would snap the tray off which would pull, but i mean thats just stupid, if your guna create a car ad that shows fake creations, at least make them beliveable!

are you guys aware that without subaru that holden awd's excluding 4WD's wouldnt exist? GM bought some of subaru to get their hands on subies AWD technology!

Yeah well most things nowdays prey on the simple minded wether it be credit cards or mobile phones to even cars or modern day electricts if it wasnt for fools getting in debt and easily getting confused/intimidated/or easily bought they wouldent be very profitable. As for the rim i think its a case of stiff shit it could happen its not likely and im suprised it did but i think the weight of the car was the major contributing factor there. I doubt the adventra wouldbe great at off roading anyways as the cross tracs tourque split puts most of it in the rear wheels and doesnt actually reallocate the torque spread when you are loosing traction (still would be better then a jeep cherokee i guess it turns itself practicly into a FWD when it senses lost traction).
The crewman was just stupid and they should of shown 2 grown males hop (or more of shoe horn) into the back seat wouldent that of gone down well.
And i agree about the back roads not being a true trail on the car they should at leastput it in some fairly intesne 4wd situation first or prehaps even make a video like land rover have.

are you aware that subaru's AWD technology is useless in Holden's case as they specialise in small boxer engines with front biased systems developed from rally cars. probably the single biggest influence for the cross-trac system was the Hummer H2. by the way, i think GM only hold about 5% of fuji heavy industries (subaru) shares so its hardly buying them

well i havent until now heard anything like that about the jeeps 4wd system, but you seem to notice only the wranglers being shown off doing the rubicon track, never the grand cherokee's or normal cherokee's when considering Jeep praise themselves on making all their cars capable of doing the track

13.2 percent i belive, they bought more from 5% up to 13 or w/e it is, and i am sorry that i was politically incorrect about the driveline etc,but the tech is still there, the hummer btw is a nice piece o machinery, if your into big lumbering pieces of american (is it made in america?) muscle. have u seen the h3 concept?

the transfer case and electronic torque split were pulled straight out of the hummer parts bin and are exactly suited for the types of engines going to eventually be fitted into the adventra. the subies are almost the opposite in terms of awd systems, they use a viscous coupling to control f/r torque split

about the cherokee, u seen their ad 4 it? the guys dad died, n left him the 142 acres (w/e i dun care) of "uninhabitable" wasteland? that wasnt exactly tame land he was goin through, but i duno if the cars were standard. nissan used 5 4wd's in one of their ads, but on the other hand, the vw tuareg (duno how 2 spell it) is a very good ad, and they didnt fair to bad in the paris dakar rally for a first go!
