I wouldn't recommend that model Maxima. Apparantly the cost of replacing the transmission on these earlier models is rather uneconomical.

A late 1990s Maxima - which is a substantially better car should be available for around $7K.

Here we go. This one for example: http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/...aspx?State=NSW

That is fairly creepy. Considerably so.

So i've been looking around a little further (it's amazing - the moment you look for a car the market dries up.....) and i've come across this.

Thoughts/Comments?

My Aunt had a Telstar TX5 over in NZ - it never missed a beat. although she did say it was a bit gutless.

She'd just come from a Bloody V8 Falcon though, so i guess it's all relative

We had the 626 for a while, had a couple of small problems with the engine, nothing too major. Apart from that it was great. Mazda's are always nicely specced and very comfy.

There's This One Too

I prefer the hatchback (easier to transport Gigantic Architecture Models) but it's got more K's. on the plus side it's Cheaper by a long shot

If it's got more the 200,000km's i'm really not considering it. i don't want to buy something tired and have to fix it - i've already done that with varying degrees of success
