barra 182 tuning

does anyone know what ford could still do to this engine to extract more power? they said when they went with the xr6t because any tuning to the barra 182 would bee too costly and wouldnt provide the results they wanted. has any1 that owns an xr6 or something with this engine in it doen much tuning to it yet and if so what r the results

well compression sis already at 9.7:1, so really if you wanted to change that the smartest thing would be to bump it up over 10:1 and change your ECU to benefit from 98 octane optimax. i gotta laugh though, some people have said y simply fitting a k&n filter theyve gottenm about 10kw more at the flywheel. how mad would it be if ford made the straight 6 extractor with twin exits. experts say the trick is to put the exhaust from certain cylinders together to get the right sound, so perhaps if they matched every second outlet to one and the rest to the other they could do it. my dads cressida with the straight six on the extractor its got twin exits, thats what gave me the idea

well it was widely rumoured that there would be a lower boost engine going into the fairmont ghia at about 190kw, but that was when the XR6T was supposed to be only 220kw, the rumours then grew to 230kw and 210kw. perhaps with the 280kw engine coming out soon, ford will try a 3 engine approach, with a ghia, xr and fpv all sharing a version of the engine

well i think it would be a mistake to put a turbo6 in a fairmont/fairlane ghia if thats what u were refering to...they should leave the luxury cars with lazy v8s.....and use the t6 option on the xr6 and maybe the base falcon.....afterall luxury cars are just that, they are designed more for the older crowd which dont really want to be fanging around in a turbo, but thats just my opinion.

well the fairmont ghia's marketted as a sports-luxury car now, so they could get away with a 210kw T6 in it.

well i wouldnt think it a bad idea for the 240kw engine to be optional in the fairmont ghia, as it is, people looking for luxury with the punch of an XR8 or XR6T have to either settle for the 220 V8 or pay big for a GT-P

about $35K for the tickford kit, you might pay a lil more for the ford racing kit and more again for a 220 rebel

it was just an AU2 with the ford racing bodykit optional on the AU3, the 220kw synergy 9000 engine i think it was called, 18" wheels and leather interior with special badges. the only official ford 250kw cars were the T3 FTE's
