Well theres slightly under 400kw version already in the jags so that motor has potential somthing posative happening with that motor will be much welcomed.

The funny thing is people are blameing the human race on somthing that is largely a natural occourance (global warming) granted we have attributed to it with our pollution but we cannot delay the inevitable look at the dinosaurs them buggers went through the jurassic period which left the planet either tropical or swampland all the way to the ice age that killed them off and the only c02 emissions where comming from the earth and dino bowel movements.

Im all for helping the enviroment even if its debateable how much help its really going to do I can look out for recycling items, leaving lights off, putting on clothes instead of using the heater but when some greenie is inaccurately blameing a hobby of mine that is realistically doing sweet F*ck all to contribute to a natural occurance happening then no im afriad to say that I dont give a damn sir.

The hi-po version of the Jag 4.2 has 298kw from a 4.2 with a supercharger, or 400hp in old money. The 5L will probably make somewhere near that stock, naturally aspirated. The 5.8/6.2 should also produce about 400hp stock, with considerable more torque (and fuel consumption). I'd imagine when Ford do get around to making a blown version of the 5L, it wont be supercharged like the Jags but probably twin turbo like the Ecoboost Duratec, which will make somewhere around 350hp or 260kw. Ideally, i dont think Ford would even bother bringing in a replacement for the 5.4 if there wasnt a need image-wise to keep a V8 as a hero-ish model, and just give us the twin turbo Duratec and get us to ramp up the boost as needed. The Mustang is in a similar position though, which will probably help us in keeping a V8 although we'll probably still get the V6TT breathing down its neck.

Drive have their first VE vs FG comparison. Special Feature: Ford v Holden: The verdict - drive.com.au

Unfortunately its not all that thorough, and only comparing XT/Omega and G6E/Calais. They should be releasing the XR6T/XR8/SS comparison in a few weeks though.

The more notable points seem to be the 2+ second difference in 0-100km/h acceleration times for the base models, interior room was noticeably bigger for VE, FG's interior design makes VE's look dated and they kept harping on about BF2 and FG looking too similar.

VP is still the fastest Exec base model to exit Holdens factory.

The ride comments remind me of the BA-VY.. It was said the BA was to soft more on the cushioned side.
Then BF-VE reversed BF was the soft one.
Now FG-VE again reversed VE.

Quote:
We’re happy to report this is the first Commodore we’ve tested in some time that’s not had a technical problem. But Holden still has some work to do on quality. The colour-matching of the plastic bumpers to the metal bodywork is still iffy, particularly on metallic colours such as silver.
That comment has pissed me off for some time, Does anyone realise how many cars have the same issue?. It never gets brought up.

Fuel consumption was close.

Biased aside if holden did there first upgrade into the VE suspension tune gave the base model the 195 engine and 5 speed auto the game would be tighter then ever.
On interia a slight change in colour can make an old interior look new.

But overall you got to be a happy camper it leaves the BF behind and moves on nicely.

One other thing, Since when was curtain airbags standard on all holden's?, This fits into what a holden guy was rumoured to have said, Holden doesn't make series 2's anymore, They are doing a bit of BF.

First XT-Omega went into more detail, but the G6E-Calais was very vague.

You no another thing, the 5 speed auto seems good enough to keep around rather then option the extra money on the 6 speed, As good as it is it's only slightly better in performance and acceleration.

And i think it's about time holden offered the 5 speed auto as an option.

When Ford first released official details of FG a few weeks back, Holden announced alloy wheels and curtain airbags would be standard on Omega. Ford still may put it standard across the range as the car isnt on sale yet, and even then they could still sneak it in. Their main argument for not putting them standard on XT is the standard side airbags still actually protect the front passengers heads, as theyre head and thorax bags. Having the curtain airbags turns the side ones simply into thorax bags, but the cirtains extend the whole length of the car to the back seats. Kinda makes sense for the XT which will mainly go to fleets, but the XR6 and G6 dont have them standard and are the models Ford expect to sell to families. I guess its like the argument with the space savers, if youre that worried about it Ford will probably throw them in for free if it gets them the sale.

After more than 14,000km and four days the Drive team delivers its verdict on the latest Ford versus Holden battle.

And thats all they had to give us?

Few things i want to adress firstly slick alot of cars do have this as an issue but its more common at a dealer level IE my brothers AUII XR8 ute the way we transport cars has a bad habit of damaging them (truck transporter) and if the dealership is anything like where my brother bought his they arent even smart enough to get the same colour done, but that was 02 in 08 with a product this expensive and through holden no less it shouldent be an issue.

Holden should make the 5 speeder standard no queastions asked that 4 speeders being a peice of shit since new and its only saving grace over the ford one is you could rebuild it when it blew up unlike fords sealed BTR 4 speeder other then that its been inferior by far. And whats up with no manual option on the base model? i find that quite strange indeed and have done since the model first came out....yes yes i know the small volume reasoning and stuff but that hasnt stopped nearly everyone else offering the option.

In some ways the figures aren’t surprising; the Falcon has more power (195kW versus 180kW) and torque (391Nm versus 330Nm) than the Commodore. Speaking of 02 like i was earlier anyone else rember when that was what the v8 models from ford and holden where making....kind of scarey really but we NEED this kind of competition between the cars otherwise is either win out then well be stuck with the same car for 10 years longer then we need.

Haggling tool fpv tell them the competitors have them let them grunble in front of you say they need to speak to the manager (when their going for a ciggarette) and then come back wafting of malbro and telling you they can do it. Realistically I think its a better idea not to have them if it means they can offer a cheaper car...that and the fact im not a fan of 2nd degree burns that come from airbag deployment.

I have seen of late the bumpers on BMW Mercedes being slightly off colour in silver, My Aunties A class drew me to it first.

I'm still confused at the bagging of the VE's 5 speed auto, I had nothing but praise for it, And the longer i drove the more it seem to adjust itself to me, Where in fact it held gears more rather then kicking down like a VP 4 speed would.

One other thing i had to have a real laugh at something, It's so small but it's something that has been said to me many times over the years about the green lighting on Commodores, Ford guys have hatted it, And they have always gave me curry over it.
Anyway on one side it's said it looks shit, On the other side it's said it's best colour for night driving.
When i seen this i fell over laughing a bit.

Welcome to club green.

Meh only time I ever had to pay attention was when I was selling damn near 30 bulbs and contianing 4 diffrent kinds when the bulbs died, that little fix cost dearly when all your bulbs in your VR/VS decided to give up the ghost and you had to replace them or guess your speed on the highway a night and it was an absolute bitch because you had to pull the dash.

If our club green is anything like holdens they can stick it up their jumper to be quite frank.

I gave them the arse... But then went to LED looks better then yellow white.

I asked holden if they had any other condom colours, They wouldn't know shit?.
I'm guessing that's we don't have them and we don't wont to tell you someone else might have them for you.

Holden doesnt offer anyother colors they come already on the fillerment and alot of parts dudes dont know they even come off! (just to give you a hint of the quality of some of them) Yes alot of guys in spares areant car enthusiests which I personally think should be a minimum but anyways Dicksmith or any electrical store that sell componentry for home radios and such can do them for cents or you can sometimes get them at repco for nearly 3 times as much.

Dicks was worse, A guy who i ask about LED's 12volt with resistors said, Sorry I'm not good with electrical.. This was a dick smith electrical store, 12min away is a dick smith power house, This is where he should be if he knows nothing about electrical.
I ended up on ebay getting some T5 LED's ready to use.

Its bad when your stuck asking some dull faced smuck a queastion and they have no idea about their own product. Everyone starts somewhere but given the place it was probably some pimply faced kid whos voice was breaking.
