RSX vs Old Accord

funny

when you look at the stats a 98 accord ex v6 (the one my brother has ) has better stats then a brand new rsx type s (in a strait line newayz, accord cant really turn that well with .78 gs max stock

but when you think about it, the accord has more room, lower insurance, when you're talkin about an old one they dont suffer teh same inflated resale value as integras or civics (they're about 10-12 grand now), same or MORE performance in a strait line, more luxurious, the list goes on

im surprised i dont see more accords with stickers and 22 inch rims with huge as wings on the road ... not that i'd want to ... just a thought

and the 98 accord ex with v6 vtec engine has 200 hp and 195ft-lbs of torque which develops at 4700 rpm (this is important)

weight is 3241lbs dead weight

the 2005 rsx type s however has the following

210 hp at 7800 rpm

143 ft-lbs of torque at 7000 rpm (remember the accord, 195ft-lbs at 4700rpm)

2840 lbs dead weight

i know the accord weighs nearly 400 lbs more but the engine's extra grunt at the low end makes up for that, not to mention the better insurance, the more room, the more luxurious interior ... ect.

the larger stroke on the v6 is the only reason redline is at 6750 rpm
fuel cutoff as far as i can make out is just past 7000

an aftermarket ecu, some tweaking of the suspension, anti roll bars, a new intake and maybe exhaust and you got yourself a really really fast and civilized car, comprable to a modern tsx or tl at a fraction of the price

too bad my bro's is an automatic, if it was manual i wouldnt be thinking about getting an mx5 ...

i prefer the new RSX, but its never smart to buy a brand new car. the accord is probably a financially smarter decision. plus there is no warranty to consider if your going to work on it

lol ur pic is an rsx ... dunno why that's funny but it is

i actually prefer the old 98-02 styling of the accord over the new ones, the headlights just look wrong as triangles, DOWN WITH TRIANGLES

Well that'd be part of the reason why theyve still got lower insurance

I rather the looks of the Integra to the Accord, but the Accords not that bad either, i dont know how long i could live with the Integra's high revving engine though

aren't they doing that? the styling is going to be similar to their 'sports study' concept they did a few months back

That would be a nice car, although Im not really a Honda fan,I see to many accords with gold badging and pretentious would be bmw drivers behind the wheel

Yeah i'd rather they came up with like an AWD Integra or something, but Mazda have jumped on the segment and Subaru have had a car in it for ages, why not Honda then with the Accord?

An integra with rwd and a screaming vtec would be a fun car to punt along the road

I wouldnt be surprised if the Integra's somewhat based on the Civic though, so that may be the reason why its still FWD

yeah that is why its FWD, but it handles so well as FWD i'd love to see what honda could do if it was RWD. even my old crappy integra is more neutral than understeery
