I love the NSX but I'll have to say Esprit. I'd take the NSX only if it was a NSX-R.

Yes it is.

And I'll take an Espirit. Though probably an S4. Mmm. And a better gearbox if possible.

The Esprit looks too dated IMO. The NSX isnt the new kid on the block either, but is alot more toned and balanced. I'd take the Honda.

put a aftermarket turbo that can handle at least 20 psi and the lotus will eat the nsx's dust.

And the same the other way around...?

No difference either way. Of course you would win if you modify the car.

Putting two of my favorite wedge profile cars up against each other? I'll go the Esprit just because there's no NSX-R.

Never liked the esprit's shape, its just generic wedge to me.

The NSX on the other hand, is so low and long with just the right width on the roads when you see one you cant help but be transfixed by it. Thus, NSX = win.

Not to mention its undeniably one of the best cars through twistys.. If there was a Type R.. no contest..

The other way round, the gearbox would explode apparently.

This is one of the best comparisons i have seen on here. Both cars are similar yet also rediculously different. (im going to be using the 4cylinder turbo esprit s4 and s4s becuase i believe that was when the esprit's peaked)

The nsx was a big deal when it came out in the early 90's because it was an "Everyday supercar" it was reliable, comfortable and fast at a time when supercars were prone to breaking down and very uncomfortable. Also, the nsx's manual transmission was a dream at a time when everyone elses transmission were either gated or clunky (bmw and porsche aside). The nsx was also famous for its high revving sweet sounding vtec v6 (back when vtec was a big deal)

The esprit seems to be the exact opposite, it has always been known as being rediculously unreliable. Its shifter is rubbery and prone to breaking when shifted hard. Its cabin is very uncomfotable, hard to get in and out of, and visibility is terrible. The lotus was famous for having a tiny little turbocharged 4cylinder with wicked turbo lag but when the turbo finally kicked in, it was like getting hit in the back of the head with a 9 iron.

Yet despite these differences i consider both cars to be pretty close. performance wise they are almost equal. the lotus was faster 0-60 (4.7 vs 5.0) but the nsx had a faster top speed. Also both cars remind me of eachother because neither of them changed too much with the times after the 90's and despite lotus v8 at the end of its life both cars were pretty happy sticking with their niche's.

Either way you are getting a great car for different reasons.

Personally though, if i was buying, I'd take an s4 or an s4s because its raw almost crude nature (british crude, not viper crude) and because i think they are gorgeous and because you dont see them as often.

I'd have to go with the Esprit, as for me it came down to looks in the end. With both being very good performing cars. In Canada the Esprit's exclusivity would be what makes up my mind.

In the Lotus. Apparently the gearbox, which is from some old Renault, is rubbish.

If I chose the NSX, I'd forever be wishing I had the NSX-R because reading Evo's reviews of it, I know just how good that car is.

The Esprit V8 though is the final evolution and with some (possibly serious) money being spent on one that's in optimum condition, it would be absolutely awesome to own.
