The skinner tires only took place with the GTP rules (of 1999-2003).

I think you'll get the coverage next year, as Asian Le Mans series start in 2009 with two races - Japanese and Chinese.

Although i do not have scientific figures, but to me, a lemans car's shape looks tends to get airborne easily compared to F1's open wheel design .... is it true?

LMP cars achieve topspeeds that current F1 cars can only dream of.

yes, but surprisingly they banned them many years later - on 60's or even 70's

The difference between GT1 and GT2 is the level of development allowed on them. Modifications for GT2 are limited, while GT1 cars are virtual prototypes that retain the overall shape and chassis of the original cars, but include many, many modifications. The Porsche 993 GT2 was a GT1 (was known as GT2 back then) car as was the Ferrari 575 GTC.
