You're entitled to your opinion, but I can assure you, I'm neither of what you've just generalized all convertible owners to be. What's truly pathetic is that you couldn't gather that from my previous posts. The point of that car isn't to drive in town where everyone can point and stare, its to be out in the country side where asides from a few random vehicles, you're pretty much on your own. Some of us are out there to enjoy life to its fullest and take advantage of the fact that we have the option of driving a beautiful car without the space restrictions of a roof. Does that really make us "pussies and showoffs"? What a dense thing to say. Give your head a shake, kid.

I'm older than you, and I was joking.

+1000 for understanding.

EDIT: And I know you are an enthusiast, but I think that in general terms you'd agree, if there's an option for a coupe or convertible, the enthusiast would go for the coupe, the rich person with more money that doesn't know jack about cars a convertible.

Kid.

Well, no offense to you Kitdy, but a comment like that generally comes from narrowminded youngsters that don't know any better. If you were joking, why didn't you take the time to throw in one of these --> <--.

I used to use smilies but never use them anymore.

Regardless, I am not keen on convertibles - a major reason is because I find them uglier to be honest - especially modern convertibles. Mustangs, a few Brit classics can pull it off, but not the car in your avatar that's for sure.

Its all a matter of preference. In my opinion, supercars without their tops are the only good looking vertibles out there, and its the mustangs that I despise.

Anyways, my apologies to you. I didn't mean to belittle you. I simply felt defensive after pretty much being targeted as a whimp. But now at least you know my intentions for driving a drop top Ferrari are purely good . And for future, I won't get on your case about emphasizing your point with smilies.

Thanks and I apologize for any misunderstood comments - I meant to poke fun, not to make fun of.

I never liked the 360, just the CS, to plain, and for some reasons, it reminded me of a banana. The F430 is just style-overkill being a Ferrari.
The 355 got the best mix of sportiness and elegance I think, but whatever, to each his own.

You are aware that many classic sports cars fall under that category?

Generally, yes you're right. As an enthusiast, I can appreciate the coupes for their purpose. However, my personal driving style would lean more towards preserving the car and savoring every moment I spend in it. I wouldn't track a Ferrari the same way I wouldn't use a gold brick as a boat anchor.

The 80's and early 90's Ferraris are very beautiful indeed. I find the 348 and 355 take after the F40, while the 360 gets its smooth lines from the F50. In similar fashion, the F430 looks overkill because the Enzo that came before it did too. They share very similar styling cues in some ways.

LOL. Now that truly is a matter of preference. I hope you don't have plans for a poll, because you might be outnumbered .

It was purely sarcastic. We settled it earlier .

Wishing I was in Moscow, Idaho
Alright, I know you were all waiting breathlessly for my opinion so I'll weigh in on this whole styling thing. I liked the 360 a lot more than the 355, but always thought it was kind of femenine. So when the 430 came out looking a little more aggressive I actually liked it. My only real problem with it was the weight. I was waiting for something a little more hardcore, like the CS. I hear a lot of complaints about the Scuderia's floor mats, but I actually like rubber floor mats in a car like that. I think it's a cool touch. I also appreciate the lack of amenities in a viper though, so I realize it puts me into a small minority.

I do appreciate convertibles in their place. They are often (not always) just a softer version of a coupe, but there is something extra about them on a nice day. I realize my Jeep isn't exactly a Ferrari, but I just burned about 5 gallons today because I went to get some duct tape and ended up taking the extremely long way home. The wind in your hair, listening to the engine, the wide open feeling. Good times. Do have to wear goggles when you go through mudholes, though.

I think what really set me on convertibles was the fact that I spent all of last summer season riding a motorcycle. I absolutely loved that free feeling, and I will always crave it. Bike riders die like flies over here though and I had a bad feeling that I was pushing my luck every day I went out. Had many close calls already, not by my own faults, but only because cars don't take the time to check their surroundings properly. I wanted a way to have the same open air exclusivity that I had on my Ducati, only safer, so I figured that the only way to go about that would be to acquire one of its four wheeled counterparts. None other than a Ferrari. Only problem is it will take a while longer to get than a Ducati .

I actually kind of like the "I'm about to die" feeling of a bike and I'm still mad at my uncle for selling his. Being a nerd I always looked like a poser on it but it was awesome. Got to ride on a Ducati monster that one of his friends owned and that was fairly epic but in a better handling, less powerfull way. Now some aussie is enjoying my uncles bike. What a waste.
