Fastest Stock Car

I was thinking probably the fastest stock cars ever would be the Ford GT90 or TVR Speed 12, but after that there's probably the McClaren F1.

The fastest production car is the 1995 McLaren F1 LM. Some people may argue that the Dauer LM is the fastest production car, but since it's sold as a race car, it's not considered production. According to the 2003 Guinness Book of Records.

With such a low sportscar you would get stuck on a speed-slowing bump in the road
(I don't know the english word for it).

Right now the fastest production car is the Koenigsegg CC 8S. A recently started Swedish or Swiss company ( I forget which exactly).

With a carbon fiber Ford engine, crazy aerodynamics, and a high price to match the high speed to be sure.

Bob, you have a problem with your question. The GT90 was never put into production, neither was the speed 12. Peter Wheeler (TVR) drove the prototype home and realised that 800bhp could not be safely transmitted to the rear tyres. The racing TVR's have huge slicks that can't cope with the torque. There and then he decided it had to be canned.

That leaves the Macca. And every-one else here is correct.

But then it should be for $1,000,000

And yes I would have one in an instant, no hesitation.

Keep smiling.

I remember reading soemwhere that a half dozen were built before they were canned. Then the production of the speed 12 was cahged over to the Cerbera platform and last I heard they were still making them.

Now I saw in the site that the first Speed 12 (not the Cerbera Speed 12 one) of 1997 was built in 2 pieces...
The 2001 one will be built in little pieces...

In this site:
This is the 1997 car :

And this is the 2000 car (Cerbera Speed 12) :

OKAY lets clear this up.

Speed 12 = Not produced
Cerbera speed 12 = was produced. however
It was produced SOLELY for racing, and NOT as a road car. The TVR website is here .
Have a look at the timeline, and the motorsport section.

I have to reiterate this. YOU COULD NOT BUY IT AS A ROAD CAR.

I have this feeling you won't believe me regardless. So, a prize to the person that finds me wrong

Anyway just in case you would like more pics

Actually, if you're talking purely top speed, the non-LM (I don't dare call it "normal") version is actually quite a bit faster. The aerodynamics of the LM make for better roadholding, but it is actually significantly less "slippery".

Yeah, the non-LM (I think McLaren F1 XP5 is the official name) is the fastest roadcar in the world.
