Get the Gimp, I promise you once you learn how to use it (which will take pretty quick) it'll provide whatever you need.

Here's what you need:

Gimp Stable
(7.6MB)
GTK+ 2 Environment (5.4MB)

At least give it a test-drive.

What details? The Gimp is free photoediting software. Just download and install those 2 links and practice.

The chop suffers from the "jaggy" edeges but try gimp,... I have just started to fool with it too, but seems to be fairly good anyway...try Alais sketchbook too, or corel and PS these are all really good and u can dload free trial copies....and get addtional software for free in the process too !

Seriously, use Gimp or any program other than Paint. Read through a couple tutorials, get used to the more advanced tool sets and then give it a go. Your end results will look much nicer.
