M3 Evo?

So like any red-blooded car nut, I was devastated by the news of BMW not planning to make a CSL version of the current M3.

Sure, the tarted-up versions of the X5 and X6 will probably sell up a storm, but does that truly represent what you stand for as a company? I mean come on!

Whatever.

But this got me thinking, can BMW maybe make up for this travesty of justice? And by that I mean cater for us enthusiast types?
Well, I read the other day BMW intends reviving badges of the past (CSL not included), tii being the most notable. So, why not Evo?

Think about it, BMW brings out an M3 Evo say round about 2010, featuring more spice for the same price. Sounds like a good idea?

Well, here's what I think they can do:

Take one standard 2 door E92 M3:

Revise the bumper a bit, most notably the air splitter to maybe assist high-speed stability. Increase the intakes ever so slightly as well to ensure better breathing to the revisited 4.0 V8 (now featuring direct fuel injection and dry-sump lubrication):

Which brings us to the posterior of the car. Now, I know most find the rear of this car acceptable. Some might even say pleasant.
I just so happen to fall in neither of the above categories. I think the idea of trying to slap on the same "face" on the back of the car is a silly idea, especially when some of the features serve no purpose at all. And you have a huge piece of exhaust sticking out, even from a shot that's been taken from a relatively higher position:

So what would happen if BMW decided to stick with trying to keep some sort of theme going between the front and the back, but at least making some sort of attempt at making it look a bit neater?
I'd like to think that they'd have no trouble at all in repackaging the exhaust system in such a way to at least hide the most bits of it from view, not including the outlets (which now sit in what I personally think is a better place). While they're at it, they might want to move the inner parts of the light-clusters to where they should've been in the first place.
And if we cant have CSL, at least give us its wing!:

Rear light clusters update:

Stop looking at me! Look at me! Stop looking at me!
I think the rear lights matched better before, this looks mismatched. I do like the idea of subtle enhancements for performance, but I think two that would work well would be a whole front air damn instead of a split one, and maybe a bit more flared wheel arches. Or maybe not on the arches.

Thanks for the feedback, duly noted. Updated the lights to have the light elements line up.

Call me old-fashioned, but I really don't get the upside-down L-shaped Beemer lights of late.

I quite like it, but I prefer the exhausts below the bumper.

Other than that it's good, altough the changes are minimal especially on the front.

Thanks Ferrer

Yeah, I know the chop contains a minimal amount of changes. The front only contains the bigger intakes and extended splitters.

I'll post a much revised version shortly though.

Nice job. turned a bad looking back end (IMHO) into a reasonably good looking back end. I think you did nto change the front enough, but that is just because i think the standard front looks horrible.

Don't mind the changes you've made to this. Looks pretty good, especially the rear.

Nice work Kooper as usual. I would like to see that single hole in the front though. You know... like this one:

What do you guys reckon?

What's that hole for? I always wanted to know. It doesn't seem to be a tow hook.
