Nsu 1200/1300 Tt(s)
NSU 1200 TT/1300 TTS
NSU was a motorcycle company that re-tried its luck on the car market in the fifties with the introduction of the NSU Prinz. It had been building cars since 1906, but stopped that in the mid twenties. The Prinz had a 600 cc two cylinder engine and was gradually improved over time, the final version with the original body style being the Prinz III. Enter the Prinz IV, with the body that was clearly inspired by the Chevrolet Corvair. The engine was retained and its 30 BHP allowed for a speed of 115 kph. More than half a million were produced. The next step was the NSU 1000TT, a stretched version of the Prinz with a 4 cylinder transverse aircooled engine behind the rear axle. The car turned immediately into a favourite for touring car races, and a number of versions appeared. The 1200 TT had an enlarged engine, while the 1000 TTS was further tuned to allow the car to stay in the 1-litre class. The TTS had twin Solex Carbs, wider wheels and front disc brakes. An oil cooler was placed underneath the front license plate. In standard form the car had 70 BHP, but could be tuned up about 85. Later privately prepared versions used a 1300 engine and as such became known as the 1300 TTS. The best known tuner of all was Siegfried Spiess. A 1300 TTS driven by Willi Bergmeister became the 1974 German hillclimb champion (aptly translates as Bergmeister, so what’s in a name) in the class up to 1300 cc. Of all TT variants about 65000 were produced. Shown here are a 1200 TT and a 1300TTS in the famous Jaegermeister livery.

great cars, always liked them with their opened hood for cooling (pic3).
I have an orange one (typical colour for TTs) as 1:18 Revell diecast.
