Opel Manta 400

After the Ascona 400 Opel decided also to homologate the Manta, mainly due to it more slippery shape than the Ascona. The car received the same 144 BHP DOHC Cosworth fuel injected engine, and also the paint treatment and the white wheels.

At the time that the car received homologation, the Audi Quattros started to set the trend, and the Manta had less success than the Ascona.

All in all 236 Manta 400s were produced.

Yes, two Mantas were standing near to my house not so long ago - rusty, but still interesting. They looked really powerful. In proper hands they can become a real supercar indeed.
