Citroen Dyane

Citroen Dyane

In 1967 Citroen thought that the time had come to present the successor to the 2CV, and the Dyane saw the light. It was basically a more luxurious version of the 2CV with external cosmetics, but a more practical large rear hatch. The 2 cylinder aircooled boxer engines remained the same, with 425, 435 and 602 cc for the top model of the range. Obviously Citroen overestimated the desire of the 2CV clientele for “upmarket” cars, and the car always played an outsider role during its 17 year production span. Nevertheless 1,443,583 examples were produced, but up till now they have failed to obtain the same status as the 2CV.

Here is a Dyane 6 at a recent Citroen Club meeting in Rozenburg, Holland
