Morgan Super Sports - 1932

Three wheeled Morgans could be registered as a motorcycle, taking advantage of the English tax laws of the time. This Super Sports has an ash wood frame and a John Alfred Prestwich (J.A.P.) engine. Through the years engines from many different manufacturers were used. The earliest three wheelers by Morgan used a 7 hp Peugeot engine and the last ones used a Ford motor. Production of Morgan three wheelers ended in 1952, around the same time the tax advantage was reduced.

Engine: V-Twin, OHV
Bore & Stroke: 86 x 97 mm
Displacement: 1,100 cc
Transmission: 3-speed
Horsepower: 39 @ 4,500 RPM
Wheelbase: 87 inches
Weight: 954 lbs
Topspeed: 100 mph
Cost new: 130 English Pounds

*On loan at the San Diego Automotive Museum.
**The document explaining tax calculations was on display with the Morgan Supersports.

as posted in another thread, old Morgans never die, they get chucked around the sprint and hillclimb tracks on a regular and adventurous basis :D

^that shows how thre-wheelers illogical are. why would you like to have three wheels instead of four?

I'm new to this forum, and mainly play with Porsche 356's, but I have one of these at home at the moment. Lots of fun. This is a 1946 Super Sports with a Matchless MX4 watercooled engine. Technically Morgan stopped building the Super Sport model in 1939 but did assemble 12 cars (and I use the term lightly) after the war.

Welcome to UCP, do we also get to see pics of the 356? (A,B, or C?)

Thanks for the welcome Henk. I have two 356's. A 1961 T5 B coupe and a 1962 T6 B cabriolet. The cabriolet is the pic in my avatar. I'll look for a thread on early Porsches to post pics on.
