Stop looking at me! Look at me! Stop looking at me!
A classic is either a car older than 15 years, older than 25 years, built before 1973 or built before 1948(and expensive when built and built in limited quantities); depending on who you ask :P

It's a classic.
Styling and performance puts it there, especially the iconic plastic pointy-front

A classic is a car that is regarded as a classic. The Escort RS2000 is regarded as one, therefeore it is one

This is the probably the best definition. It's a very subjective concept for which there is no pattern.
There's however a definition of car with historical interest. FIVA (International Federation of Antique Cars) claims that an historic car is one with more than 23 years wich keeps it's original condition or shows modifications that were available from new.

Yes, it's a classic, and a timeless one too, IMO. I wonder why Fords are always better everywhere outside North America.

The "problem" with FIVA is it's dominated with big money interest in "name" cars.

Colin McRaes first Subaru is definately of "historic interest" but way-WAY younger than FIVA's interests

Generally because Ford RoW manages to keep Ford US *OUT* of the design decisions.
With a few exceptions which we can all see as failures ... Scorpio, Cougar etc etc

Agreed. FIVA definetely sucks and it's a shame that UNESCO takes them seriously.
