Here is another interesting car from the collection I shot last year. My understanding is that they started with a type 57 engine and chassis. Employing traditional hot rodding techniques, a chopped and channeled body was created over the chassis.

IMHO, the end result is a really cool looking car.

I could be incorrect on the engine type, please correct as necessary.

I do hope they kept the original body....
It looks like a 57S (surbaissee=lowered) chassis, with the larger V-shaped radiator, which were quite rare. I am sure the car in its original shape is worth much more than it is now. A comparable one (albeit original) is owned by Peter Mullin, shown here in the car during the 2007 Carmel Concours.

do you know when it was "adapted"? and what was it before?

found it myself: Chassis 57416, according to Conway a Gangloff body, possibly a Galibier.

I think the links are contradicting as 57522 is shown with a Dubos body, well before Hillegass started working on his (Corsica bodied) car. (on a side note, the name Hillegass is actually spelled with double s at the end, and on top of that the Sinsheim Museum in Germany exposes a Hildegas Indy special,,,)

For what I can see, it is a replica chassis, with original engine, and new bodywork.

I changed the Hillegass name on the WIKI.

Chassis 57416 was a Ventoux bodied car, which lost it's body to a roadster type body.

while we are at it, can you identify this 57S? It was shown during last weekend's Monaco Historic GP. Interestingly it has only 2 exhaust pipes...(I haven't searched for it yet...)
