Oldsmobile Thor Ghia 1967
Does anyone know anything about this rare car?
All I know is it was commisioned by Bill Mitchell of General Motors in 1967, designed by Giugiaro and based on an Oldsmobile Toronado platform. Thanks, Mark. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Esprit_Turbo; 02-11-2009 at 01:10 PM.. |

Kept at the De Tomaso factory museum until 2004, then went in an unknown direction.

Thanks for the pics and infomation
. I heard from a source Bill Mitchell didn't like it and had it destroyed, so I'm glad to hear it survived. |

No wonder he didn't like it. It's hideous

Her body style treatment is very similar to the 1967 Maserati Ghibli designed also by GG

Looks very good to my eye, and love those charismatic styled steel wheels
Think I've seen that distinctive 'hip treatment' on another car, but can't place it. ![]() Thought it might have also been employed on the old Isuzu 117 Coupe (also a Giugiaro Italdesign) but no, the 117 has a reasonably straight-through beltline. Any suggestions? |

Christ, that's incredible - being based on a Ford Toronado, I take it the car was FWD too?

I like this a lot! It's a very nice design in my eyes, and it flows very well. It's a shame that it never went into production. |

Was this really styled by Giugiaro? the Serenissima was Tom Tjaarda's work so why the family resemblance?

Interesting, but I would rather own a same-year Olds 4-4-2. Like this one:

i'd like to point out that its probably easier to to a prnt scrn than taking a photo of your screen.
