Lancia Aurelia B20 GT

About 1951?

2.5liter V6, fifteen-inch brakes all around, sliding pillar front suspension. Modern and up to date during the early 1950's I suppose; excellent daily driver they say, and more: In 1951 it placed a second place finish in the Mille Miglia and a twelfth place finish at LeMans!

A old neighbor of mine had one in her garage. At the time, I admit, I didn't know anything about the car other than it was a Lancia. After slight research, I tried to tell her the significance of the car, but she wouldn't listen and seamed to think it was junk because of some slight rust and a broken transmission (motor ran well). She sold it for $2,000; how much is this car worth today? They say $50,000, but there was one auctioned somewhere for $80,000 in Europe a few months ago.

This is the same lady that bought a Cadillac Escalade, go figure *shrugs*

These are wonderful cars, and came in two door coupe, four door saloon and two spider/cabrio versions, which are highly sought after. They were extensively employed in racing during the fifties and still regularly appear in historic races. I like the comment about the Thesis, which was in fact desgined somehow to revoke the lines of the classic Aurelia.
