Alfa 33 EJ20T Conversion

Hey Guys,

I've been searching for a while to find some info on converting the 1.7L Boxer that is in the 1988 Alfa 33 i own to a Subaru EJ20T. I know it can be done as there is a guy who drives one in a city near where i live, however i've not been able to catch up with him.

Just wondering if anyone has any info on it.

Thanks!

G

It could work.
Because Subaru-boxers are similar to the ones in an Alfa.
From what i've heard from various AROC's, the subaru-boxer was developed with the prints from Alfa Romeo.
So why shouldn't it be possible.

Anything is possible given enough time, money, and effort.
More than likely, you'll need to fabricate custom motor and transmission mounts, and move a lot of the peripherals like coolant reservoir, wiper fluid bottle, and the battery.

I don't know anything about either car/motor. Are they both computer controlled? Same drivetrain setup?

There must be an Alfa Romeo forum out there somewhere. They'd be more knowledgable about the certain swap you're planning.

Nope he own an Alfa 33 and he said "I want convert to 1.7 to the Subaru engine" so he meant: take out the 1.7 and put in the Subaru engine.
