i agree, the gt40 was the ultimate racecar of its day, it blitzed the opposition and wiped the smirk off everybodies faces who thought that ford could'n't build a racecar.

Matra Simca M670 - 3 years running and then having proven the point left and got on with winning the F1 constructors and drivers championship LOVE IT for the sounds of the normally aspirated V12
Alpine Renault A442/3 - French auto industry decided again they needed to protect their honour and despite running FASTEST for 3 years only one it once !! BUT again having done what theye set out to do they set the ground for the new F1 engines and moved over to be F1 champions. Love IT for the sound of the Turbo V6

You gotta love the way the French used to do things back then

BUT it meant they never built a "dynasty" the way Ferrari, jaguar, Aston, Alfa, Ford et all

Porsche have always dominated LM in one class or the other, with 14 outright wins since 1970, and many more class victories.

The 993/ 996 has been dominating the GT category for many, many years now.

The Jags from the 50s, the Ford GTs from the 60s, and the Porsches from the 70s.

Yeesh, just about every decade has had its great cars. I think I agree with the GT40, but I gotta say the Audi R8 is up there as well some of the Porsches from the 70s.
