1000 cm^3 is 1 litre. ( What are liters ?? SI are International Units and these and their derived units don't use 'English' mis-spelling )

So you've a 1.3 liter engine ( normal rounding )

yes indeed. 1263 cm^3 = 1.263 dm^3. One dm^3 is one litre.don't they teach that in the US ??? i have to lern the "english" system here too !!! i am not relly handy with it, but i know the theory !

Cubed decimeter (10 x 10 x 10 cm = 1000 cubed centimeters ) is 1 liter.
I.e. 1263 ccm is 1.263 liter. OK ?

Metres, and litres are the OFFICIAL International spellings.
SI units ( and those derived from it ) are Standardised and that includes the spelling.

http://whitewolf.newcastle.edu.au/te.../units_si.html
"Spelling and symbols used in Australia are in accordance with International Standards. The correct spelling of the common units is metre, litre and gram. "
You gotta trust the Aussies

http://www.chemie.fu-berlin.de/chemi...ral/si_en.html
"metre (meter): m
(the correct English spelling of the unit is "metre", but the variant "meter" is frequently used in the United States) "

http://www.bipm.org/en/si/si_brochur...1-1/metre.html
The actual SI document....
"1875 - Convention of the Metre signed. "

and finally ...

The 1901 declaration .....
"The unit of volume, for high accuracy determinations, is the volume occupied by a mass of 1 kilogram of pure water, at its maximum density and at standard atmospheric pressure: this volume is called "litre". "

No matter how much the LANGUAGE can be bastardised the one thing you can't do is change UNITS.
It would be like saying I wanted payment in dolars or eunos
