Looking for mid to late 90's family Jag,Benz Or BMW

Need some input, started looking at 95-98 period Benz, Jag XJ 6 and 12,BMW 3 series, I need a 4 door family car as the old Porsches are not good for the 3 of us at any length, I'm seeing fair prices and really love the XJ series but all sorts of people bash them as they do the Benz and BMW's, My heart says get a Jag, My common sence says Benz and the Sport side of me says BMW, all of these are in the 10K area used so they all have bottomed. Whats everybodys opinion...remember family car here

How about an early 90's 7/8 series?

I looked at two 700 series BMW's but they were kinday scarry, Both had head work or something as the gaskets were all marred up and the interior of the second one was beat.

I'd get a jag, cos I heart them. An old BMW will last a long time though, if it's been looked after. We have an '85 323i that's done about 340,000 kms, and it's still going strong. What I would suggest is to budget 3-4 grand for a 'warranty' when you're looking around. I'd avoid a benz, because I don't like them because they bore me.

I don't think a 7-Series is a great car, it'll give you loads of trouble in these days but a good late 90's 330 or even a M3 Limo (lots of drivers satisfaction there) is a great way to go in my opinion.
