Kleemann E50KCC: Off-road E class

The danish tuner Kleemann has developt an off-road Mercedes E-class. It was inspired by the Audi Allroad and Volvo XC70 without a doubt.

For those who can't chose between the M-class and E-class, Kleemann builds the E50KCC. It's a Mercedes E500T 4-Matic with bigger bottom space and a tuned engine. Kleemann can provide every E-class with this package.

Kleemann developted a special adaptation for the suspension that highers the car 3cm. Together with special tyres (size 255/45 ZR 18 ) the car is 5cm higher than the standard version. The tyres are the only ones that fit on the special made braking system.

Those brakes are necessarily to control all the power. Kleemann tuned the standard 306 bhp to 595 (!) bhp. The maximum torque rizes from 460 to 770 Nm. The topspeed of 250 stays the same, but 0-100 km/h now goes in 3.9 sec instead of 6.5 secs.

The extra power was managed by changes with the compressor, special engine software, an exhaust system and so called "Super-Sport" camshaft.

On the exterior Kleemann changes the bottom of the car to give it an off-road look. Optional are front and back skirts with a protection-plate for the bottom of the car. As a final, the back shows the trademark of Kleemann: trapezium shaped exhausts.

it looks quite nice and the body kit is restrained.

the whole concept of these cars is a bit of a nonsense but if they fitted it with air suspension so you could drive it around on roads at a low height then ramp it up for those tricky gymkhana meetings

I guess if you were driving one of those and pulled over off the road and onto the grass then technically you'd achieve the 'offroad' status wouldn't you?

But its really another of those schmick european & US snowfield specials; a vehicle which carrys the illusory pretense of offroad cache yet is devoid of any offroad substance, just like Mercedes half-arsed new M Class

Looks like a good compromise, but i'd take a Legacy Outback and buy something else as well.
