As awesome as this car looks, its a bit clear that Audi isnt playing the horsepower game unlike Merc and BMW. Some would say 450bhp in their top spec car is a bit tame, when the M5 has 507, and the S55 has 500 too. But IMO, the Audi exhudes a kind of presence not present in the others, esp the Merc, which looks a bit vulgar compared to this understated smoothness.

That's an interesting observation, Raza, but then Audi usually marches to their own drum. They've done a good job with their designs and boosted performance across the product line. Overall I think their direction is more solid than BMW and Mercedes.

I think its alright to be that way with the S8, its performance figures are fine (0-60 in 5.0s). But I think they should at least up the potential on the RS6, although Ive heard the RS4 is gonna be a belter, isnt it rumoured to have a V10 too?? I personally really like Audis, wouldnt get one for outright performance, but for a nice overall package!

Yes it is by the looks of it.

Oh and its the RS6 that'll have a V10, not the RS4. Hope they eke out some power similar to the M5...

Hmmm, I'd prefer either a V8 or V12 in the new RS6 as I am not a fan of the noise 10 cylinder engines produce, but oh well.

Aah, another point about the power output of this car. The Audi A8 6.0 has 450bhp, 0-60 in 5.1s, and top speed limited to 250kmph. Exactly the same as this, but the S8 actually has less torque... but the S8 will most likely be cheaper, and obviously has the much more sportier (and better) look.

i thought i headr that there was going to be an rs8 wiht a twin turbo version of the v10 similar to the new rs6 but with more power.

its all going to go even more mental when the new 6.3l merc v8 comes out. wait unitl amg/brabus twin turbo's that!

I think it was the whole AMG/Brabus competition that escalated standard cars horsepower outputs... I remember a time when 420bhp in my dream 911 Turbo seemed awesomely powerful, now I hear the next M3's gonna have 400!! Obviously it wont drive the same, but its the principle of it all!!
And just to clear, Im not complaining!

Audi's new "nose" is really starting to irritate me but the ass view is good.

I saw a new A6 Avant the other day, and that had such a gorgeous boot, I had to turn back and look again. I quite like the big gaping nose...works really well IMO on this. (Jaysus, Ive posted so much on this topic!)
