future direction for M class

Apparently the next generation M class is going to eschew the nasty chassis thingy and be built on a monocoque platform . Good thing too. Chassis are supposed to be on proper 4x4s. I can see that in another ten years mankind will have gotto a state where he can no longer remember what he originally used 4 wheel drives for. He will look at an SUV and ponder, why do we have cars like this when a sedan or station wagon will do?

future direction would be the garbage bin, hopefully also receiving input from the likes of BMW and Lexus.
