In all the comparisons you did I would say that Porsche is better... well the clk gtr vs 911 gt1 is a hard one. But yes, my vote goes to porsche

Don't you mean SL 55 AMG against 911 Turbo.

Carrera GT
Boxter
SL 55 AMG
Cayenne
300SL
are my choices.

1: no contest, the Boxster wins, but the new SLK may be decent, and it does have the folding metal roof.
2: i'd go for the 911 GT1, i don't trust anything that flips you off the racetrack.
3: SL500. the turbo may be a ncie car but i've never liked the 996 911, and the Sl500 has the added bonus iof a folding metal roof (Again!) perhaps a fairer contest would be sl55 AMGvsTurbo.
4: as much as i hate to admit it, the Cayenne has got this one. it's a car VS A tractor.
5: 300Sl. early 911's have a reputation for evil handling, then again so do 300sls..... still, love the gullwings.

as the better company i'd say Porsche in a business sense, they have the highest profitability of any car manufacturer (i think it's about 10.2% profit per car) while mercedes has about 6. but porsche always signified some one who "indulges in solitary pleasures" to me, and so i'm torn. plus Merc is the original car company, and covers more markets than Porsche.

Apart from all the other reasoning I might choose to share, the fact remains that Mercedes doesn't offer a manual transmission with any of their high-performance cars; that's just ridiculous.

Of course, as a sports car nut, I'm much more biased toward the more hardcore sports car company. I suppose that's the case with most of us, as this poll has shown so far

porsche & only porsche

it took me a while to decide. i'll stick with porsche. porsche's engines are good & their performance is great. mb make nice cars too but its the luxury features that make the car heavy. i love the sl & cl classes especially the amg versions. but the 911 range & the carrera gt are the best.

if only the carrera gt didnt cost 1.5 million dhs. then id take the cl65 amg [700,000 dhs.]
