Yeh but the engine is a highly strung V10 ... So it needs to be run in properly...

*SLAPS FOREHEAD*

That's the break in period, ever car needs that so the rings settle and the car doesn't burn oil.
The previous gen (8.0L) Vipers are notorious for having their engines go to *crap around 40-60K miles if they were never broken in.

I wonder how many Enzos were broken in before track/law breaking use?

Probably a tiny minority, but on the other hand, most exotics don't ever get driven to the mileage when they start to show premature engine wear from improper break-in.
The Viper does though, as mentioned earlier.

Aren't those sort of engines run in on a bench?

Enzo engines and the like could possibly be run in on the bench, but any higher volume that the backlog would be huge.

QM: I'm sure that all the high performane Audis (even the low performance one's) have similar guidlines in their manuals.

What does that mean? That a expensive car doesn't need a breaking in period? That performance cars don't need break ins??? If you get rid of the word period then it just gets scary

this is kinda sad: the first 'new' M5 i ever saw was completely wrecked. it was involved in a police drug raid/car chase. the owner i think shot himself at high speed to avoid arrest and rolled the car over several times. i saw it at a police station. the front and back pannels werent that bad but the roof and windows were demolished.
i also saw a 6 series vs tractor trailer. NOT a pretty site.

This may not mean much to most of you, but I saw my first 'new' M5 today. It was great because I don't see many 'M's and now I've seen a brand new M5 . I also don't see many V10's . Sadly it was owned by an old man...
