French cars question

Hey guys, according to my experience, I never see a French brand such as Citroen, Renault or Peugeot in N.A. Those three French company also make relative inexpensive cars like some Japanese company. Why they don't sale in N.A.? Are US gov. and CA gov. rejecting French cars?

They dont' make cars that Americans want or buy (yet).
They've tried in the past and failed.
They will NEVER win against the anti-French attitude from some quarters.

I hate American cars, I like French cars, although I'm an American myself.....I was littering in the Chevys at the auto show ROFL!!!! Especially the HHR because it's nothing but plastic. I was also really disappointed at the C6 Z06 because it feels really uncomfortable inside and had the same plastic feel, and it was obvious that the trunk is bigger than the cabin. If someone offers me a ride on that thing, I'd rather lay in the trunk. French cars are nice, I particularly like the Clio V6.

Yep, I think Matra et Alpine's second & third points are the essential reasons, especially the third point. Any reference about those points pls? I wanna know more about the history.

What I REALLY love is how the War of Independence seems to get rewritten and the intervention and success of the French in tackling the British enabling the "freedom fighters" to win

What I hate about American history books is they fail to mention how much of a help the French really were during the Revolutionary War

Oh, those wars make me crazy, forget it. Just back to the cars. What do you guys think about French cars' quality? Are they always get trouble? I think French cars style likes Japanese style. Japanese gained success in N.A., but why French didn't?

World War II: US helped Japan and Germany in reconstruction after the war to make friends with each other. Our country simply doesn't care for the French. We have Italian cars because of mafia. Unless we get in trouble with somebody, we won't care, I guess that's how it works. BUT I CARE!!!

The recent anti-Iraq war approach of the French Government has not done well for promoting any French product in the USA. Under these circumstances the risk of setting up a country covering dealer network in the USA might be too risky for the French. The only way I see something could happen in the future is Renault using its Nissan subsidiary's dealer network and start selling Clios and Meganes. It is likely that these cars will need many adaptations to the US regulations before they can be sold there. These adaptations do not necessarily improve the car but are there to scare off foreign sellers to enter the US market (a practice sometimes referred to as protection)
