They are not that bad, you can live with them in everyday trafic easily.

So you don't sit around for hours only to crawl forwards 5 inches an hour? What then? Is NYC traffic like driving in an autocross stage?

You do move at a snail's pace. That's why your foot would fall off. If you don't work the clutch your car stalls so you're forced to do so.

Do you have leprosy or something? That's the only reason I can think for your foot falling off.

Seriously, don't be such a wuss. If the traffic is trundling along slowly then you just hang back a little and idle along in 1st gear. If you know you're gonna be stopped for a certain length of time like at a stop sign then put it in neutral and relax your foot. Even if you do spend your whole time working the clutch, unless you're driving an old Italian supercar or a big fat muscle car then there shouldn't be a problem. Modern clutches these days are super-light, even in high performance cars.

It would make sense to introduce the idea of other countrys outside USA before going into such detail.

I never mentioned that other countries didn't have traffic jams. I was just saying it would majorly suck to work the clutch in heavy traffic.
