Isetta..coming soon

Now here is a forthcoming and a very strong competitor for Fiat 500. BMW can make a new brand for the new car, thus it will be called not BMW Isetta, as before, but simply Isetta. Baby-car is planned to be not more than 3750mm long and to use turbocharged (!) gasoline and diesel engines.

That looks so damned cool, but surely it defeats the whole point of the MINI?

With the 120g/km CO2 limit, no it doesn't.

If only it wasn't retro...

It'd be a good concept if it weren't retro

What does this limit entail and apply to?

Our new Mini Cooper D is well under that 120g/km "limit" already...

IIRC the EU wants to impose a limit on car manufacturers on the average pollution of their cars (similar to CAFE). So this will help BMW to make up for the M3s, M5s and 7ers.

Even the 118d is slitghly below...

Even if in real life it quite isn't.

And so it is. My C4 would be bang on 120g/km if it had the EGS gearbox, but the 5-speed manual makes it 128.

What I meant by my post was that BMW already make "low CO2" cars, and although they have to achieve an average, I think slotting-in another model below the Mini could be a mistake.

It's BMW. It would probably sell lake hot cakes, not matter how it looks or what it is.
