Studio M/Studio Torino Maserati Cinqueporte Concept

Here's a privately commissioned concept model of a Maserati Quattroporte-based shooting brake. The builders hope that a limited series of such cars will be made.

Personally, I don't like it that much. I mean, it's a great idea - the Quattroporte has been just asking for such a conversion. But the wagon part looks to me too much like a cheap fix-on. The C-pillar is too big and awkwardly shaped, and the rear window looks too low, when comapared to the side windows. Nice try nonetheless

I believe I've read somewhere that Maserati didn't want to be linked to this. I believe they demanded that there won't be any Maserati emblem visible.

It looks like they just extended the roof to the end of the trunk. Hardly any effort put into it, I would say.

not a beautiful conversion for sure, but i am confident that the real model will be much better. the last creation from Studiotorino were simply astonishing. i liked since the first pics the RK Roadster and Coupe.

Whose ones

Or are you simply implying that I'm not allowed to express my opinion on other people's works? Because that way, all the music or film reviews should be forbidden too

Have you allowed yourselves the time to analyse the concept? Understand the reasons why it is like it is, the sort of constraints that the engineers and designers had to work with, who commissioned the design or who approved it?

Remember that someone worked very hard for a long time on what you choose to dismiss with a few miserly comments after glancing at a photo - I'm sure they would be thrilled to hear of your carefully considered opinions though, why not email them directly and let them know?

That way at least, all the effort you put into forming your opinions will not have been in vain.

I'm judging the result, not the process. I don't need to know how it was done to decide whether I like it or not.

Not relevant.

The fact that someone spent a lot of time doing something, doesn't automatically make it good.

O RLY? I think they wouldn't give a damn. I wouldn't.

Luckily, I am perfectly capable of forming such carefully considered opinions completely effortlessly.

Not relevant.
How can you appreciate something if you do not understand it?

This conversion could be, under the surface, an amazing feat of ingenuity and an example of first class design.

It could be the best possible interpretation of a difficult/awkward brief.

But you two don't quite like the looks (of a photograph, of a model), so screw it all...

Then what is stopping you?

If you are happy enough to make your opinion clear in a public forum, you should be equally happy to make your opinion clear to the designers.

It won't take you any time - Ctrl+C your comment, Ctrl+V into email, "Send". Even less time than it took you to post the originals in this thread!

You seemed so proud of your right to an opinion earlier... why hesitate now?
